I tend to do a gun show when I'm in town (my old man's a vendor) so sometimes I get as far as Melbourne, Lakeland, or Port St. Lucie. I'd say that's likely to effective limit of how far folks would travel to get to a chapter event, about 2 hours at most. For W Palm Beach, the Fort-Myers area chapter might be a less-taxing drive.

I figure West Orlando would be a good geographic center for the central Floridians. Figure about a two hour "circle" around the Leesburg area at max, depending on how willing the people are to drive. Plenty of fine details (such as rotating meeting/event locations to "share" the drives) to be worked out once we have interested people that will commit.

ETA: don't think of it as "cutting off" people from an area. At no point is it my intention to say "this area only." I drove from coastal North Carolina to west of Asheville a few times to hang out with :026 last year. If you wann make the drive to (possible) area events, no one will tell you not to, but it's mainly about finding that core group who can consistently show up on time and give of their time to make a chapter work. I think the rule of thumb is "if you have ten who commit over the phone, three will show up." That number will shrink if everyone is driving more than two hours each time.

I think 2.5 hrs puts most in reach. You CFLers know your turf best, whats a good place to meet?...then the crucial 'when'. I'm going to see if I can get some NE folks together just for a meet and greet and watch some football. Simplicity at first.

Also to keep in the back of everyone's mind...do we want to pick a charity to support? Perhaps rotate around the state or just pick one (ex Red Cross of Florida). Have a once a yr fund raiser....the creative minds can tackle that.

Central Florida for me, although I’ve been known to travel into Georgia usually Gainesville is about as far north as I go. Can’t say I’ve been to the panhandle yet
