Chinese binoculars, help!

Post by IAmOne » Fri Feb 26, 2021 11:07 am

I've been given a pair of rubberised 10x50 binos under the brand name Luxun, although looking around the web the same design seems to carry multiple brandings. They're a knock off of Steiner Commanders I think.

Anyway, we won't go into quantity or durability, you look through them and things appear closer, that'll do for now. What won't do is the illuminator for the compass/ranging reticule, the batteries are missing and I've no idea what to use as replacements, does anyone know?

Post a picture but one of my illuminated compass binocs use two LR43 (1.5 VDC) while the Fujinon uses one CR1620

It will need at least 3 volts so you may need two. The LR43 are a lot smaller in diameter but the holder is deeper. The CR1620 is larger in diameter but shallow.

Thanks. Someone elsewhere suggested two LR936s, which typically I don't have any of.
Will order a few and see what happens!

In case anyone was following/interested the LR936/AG9s were correct.

Button batteries are IMO a real PITA. There are so many different types and replacing them much less stockpiling them is awkward. The numbers tend to be Manufacturer numbers and you then have to find a cross reference.

A link to some cross reference charts.

Well as far as the binos go, I've four replacement sets. That will probably do me my day!
