For thousands of years the human race has been making shelters to protect themselves from the elements, and the modern day is no exception. Your home is just an extravagant shelter that contains everything you need to lead a good and comfortable life. It has such things like heating, running water, electricity. What would you do if that was taken away, and you were put into a survival situation where you must build your own shelter to protect yourself from the elements? Bugging Out to Wal-Mart, Costco, Sams Club: No!

One of the first instincts of those thinking about disaster preparedness/survival in general, is that the ultimate refuge has to be that huge Mega-Mart near your house. I mean, they have everything, right? Food, water, shelter, and possibly even arms quite literally line the walls in places like that.

Everyone else has had, or will come up with, the same idea. Well, maybe not everyone- but certainly so many that the chances your particular store won’t be overrun is pretty damn slim.

National Preparedness Month

Zombie Squad treats every month as preparedness month but sometimes people need official holidays or other event markings to give them that little kick in the butt. So, we applaud the Homeland Security department for designating a special day to recognize the importance of preparing yourself and your family for a potential disaster.
