Shit Hits The Fan…But I’m At Work!

Filed under: Survival — Chris @ 10:18 pm

Monday morning you wake up go through the motions of starting your day. You groggily start the coffee pot, strip out of your underwear and hop into a cold shower to jump start your body. As you stand there with your head under the spray, you hear vague reports on the radio about violence erupting in several east coast cities. “Typical…” you grumble.

Out of the shower, you put on a pair of khakis and a button down shirt. You scoop up the change and keys off of the dresser and find your socks and boots. Back at the coffee maker, the radio is talking about the dead cops in those east coast riots. You’d like to hear the rest, but you’re running late, so it’s out the door and off to work.

Once at the office, you say hello to all of your co-workers and settle in for a morning of exciting P&L statement review. When you turn on the radio though, NPR is now talking about local instances of rioting. From the description the reporter is giving and the background noise, you realize instantly what’s going on.

The shit just hit the fan.

“Aw Crap!” you scream. You thought it’d happen on the weekend.

Ham radio would be a great way for ZS members to continue to communicate in case of an emergency.

Break-out or Bunker?

Filed under: Survival — Mugwug @ 11:20 pm

riot police! The dead are walking the streets, the news has nothing of substance to offer and the authorities seem unable to get the situation under control. Rioting, looting, murder and mayhem appear to be the order of the day. You don’t want to stay put, but trying to get out of this mess ain’t gonna be easy either.

What do you do?
