Semi-Automatic Pistols
From ZombieSquadWiki
A semi-automatic pistol (formerly termed an "automatic") fires, extracts the spent round, ejects it, recocks the weapon and reloads it with every pull of the trigger.

Advantages
Semi-Automatic pistols are what most LEOs and Security personnel carry day-to-day. With these handguns, you are able to reload your firearm faster than other pistols, such as revolvers. There are also hi-capacity magazines which allow you to shoot up to 30 rounds continuously unlike revolvers where you are typically only able to shoot 5 or 6. With semi-automatics, after appropriate paperwork is filled out, you are able to install flash and noise suppressors making it both less visible and quiet. Ammunition for semi-automatic handguns is also typically cheaper than the ammunition used for revolvers.
Action Types
An "action" is the mechanism that moves the chamber with the spent cartridge out of the way,
moves a fresh cartridge into place, and readies the gun to fire again.
Single Action
The trigger is incapable of cocking the hammer, so it must be manually cocked prior to the first shot. The trigger pull is generally light.
Double Action/Single Action
The trigger is capable of cocking the hammer. In addition, the slide is capable of cocking the hammer. Although this mechanism is capable of employment in the single action mode, the first round is generally discharged in the double action mode with follow-up shots in the single action mode. This results in a marked difference in trigger pull.
Double Action Only
The trigger is capable of cocking the hammer, but the slide does not reset it to the sear. This results in a heavy trigger pull for each shot.
Striker Fired
Also referred to as "pin gun", this mechanism does away with the hammer entirely, employing in it's place a spring-loaded firing pin. Operation is similar to the single action mode.
