Medical Supplies...where do you get yours?

Postby Gunny » Sat Oct 15, 2005 8:35 pm

Lads and lasses,

For the sake of benefiting the members of the board in securing their necessary medical items, please feel free to post the following:

1) Name of a medical supplier you have had contact with.
2) Your experiences
3) Your recommendations.

My first one is a bit weak, but I have had good experiences from these ebay sellers:

Iodine Swabs

Quik Clot
This guy was amazing, lightning fast shipping and the lowest prices I have found yet.

Pictures of what I got for reference:

Does anyone have any experience with these guys?

I found them as a monklier on the assault web bulletin, please share your thoughts.

I've had good experiences with Galls. I haven't ordered much lately, but I need to. Thanks for reminding me, Gunny.

You guys know that there are ways that all this stuff can be bulk ordered if everyone wants to create a medical supply group or something similar right? I mean, if there are more than a few people that would like to mass order a bunch of medical gear at discount? Still can't get much in the way of controled items, but all the bandages/kerlix/sam slints ect. you would ever need...

I like http://www.e-firstaidsupplies.com/

They have good stuff, and ship free once you hit $50...I've ordered from them a couple of times, and they are fast...

See, the thing is, you are perhaps one of three to five guys in here that really shouldn't need to be in on a bulk purchase deal. Until ETS, you should be hooked up. I will be good myself for the next 6-12 months, until stuff starts hitting exp. dates. (of course, anything with those dates that I would worry about would be stuff we would need a licensed medical control to be in on ordering with us anyway...) but I know there are some people that would love to be able to get gear for their FAKs this way. All that being said, I think your input in what items should be first to purchase would be invaluable.

NFA- I was just on their site this morning considering this problem. I like their prices, they're competative with government pricing.

Army surplus stores are awesome for first aid stuff. you can find the basic field surgeon's kit not to mention the updated advanced first aid kit with molle attachments inlcuding the CAT (Combat Applicaiton Tourniquet) which is about $40 in itself and the FAK costs around $36 new or used depending on which store you hit up. With being on Fort Hood there are about 10 different Army Surplus stores within a 5 mile radius. You can also find the bandages that are issued with the ALICE first aid kit that is still issued. Another good source to get things for your FAK is to make a friend in the military with your best bet being a 92Y [Unit Supply Specialist :-) ] or a 91W (?) [Combat Medic]. Depending on the type of unit the 92Y is in he can order various things including stuff for first aid. Otherwise they have to go to the hospital on post and order things through them which is a little more difficult (although not much). Otherwise if you friend a medic they might be able to really hook you up. On the other hand, friend a paramedic, make friends with your doctor or if you end up in the ER for something minor, shmooze your nurses. That's what I do lol.

Hm. See, thats why we should consider bulk ordering. CATS should never get that pricy. Government orders run 12-15$ on these, depending on order sizes/who is competing for the products on the shelves.

Heres the NARP site for them. 27.16$ plus shipping. They tend to be a pricey vendor in my experience.

Yeah, I've been to that site before but even after you pay for shipping it still almost comes to $40. If anybody is looking for something in particular let me know. I can keep my eyes open for anything due to the amount of stores down here that carry first aid stuff and some of the buddies I have I can get just about anything minus quik clot, burn gel and those nice tourniquets.

Group Buy

Postby Williams » Tue Aug 07, 2007 8:23 pm

I'd certainly be up for a group buy of Israeli Bandages, CAT's, Kerlix, NPA's, and whatever else Gunny, Doc Simon, and all the other experts tell me to buy.

I can find all the stuff individually at the different internet sites, but I'd sure rather buy it all from the same source in one go.

NARP can be expensive, but you can get things that seem to be unavailable elsewhere without a prescription, like 14-gauge syringe/catheters for pneumothorax, and Hemcons.

I just bought from them. Their price on gauze pads and rolls can't be beat, and shipping was really fast, too.

Not to resurrect an old thread, but if you know anyone who works at a hospital they should be able to buy just about anything you would want. I can get a box of 4x4s for like $2, burn dressings, all sorts of stuff. You don't have to be one of the actual medical staff either, even janitors and any of the repair guys that have a badge can purchase from the hospital. Just ask people you know, I would be surprised if you did not know a single person who works in a hospital.

I get 99% of my stuff from Zee Medical. That's who we're contracted through at work for all our first aid cabinets. We have a local route guy who is similarly minded (survival and guns) and he cuts me a break on prices. They carry anything from fingertip bandages to large dressings to AEDs. I got my Quick Clot from them, too.

A few years ago I was lucky enough to score a complete (minus the meds)military issue FAK on a rummage sale from a retired Marine helicopter crew chief. It's the large one in a hard case with 2 latches on each side of the hinged lid. There's splints and all kinds of stuff in there.

My additional Kerlix and gause I found by accident at the local Lewis Drug store. They had sterile (it says surgically sealed) 4"x4" pads of Kerlix for $.98. There's 2 pads in each packet. I ended up with $56 worth of Kerlix, gause rolls, iodine, ipocak and Immodium AD. The lady jokingly asked if I was planning for something big. I replied that I didn't have insurance and was going after my appendix.
Are you prepared? Good. Then help someone else do the same.

One of my faves is http://www.redflarekits.com/
You can order refills, and even individual packets of single doses, wipes, etc., and free shipping for orders over $100, and a small discount for orders over $75.

TheFreakinBear,

I think its time for me to make another run to San Antonio and Fort Hood for some Army Surplus supply runs then! I can only get so much from my cousins in the Army/Navy right now with them currently being deployed

Call me paranoid, but I am more than a little leery of buying a lot of stuff from eBay.

I have dealt with these places in the past, with good service:
Galls
Emergency Medical Products
Masune First Aid & Safety
Moore Medical

I'd be in for a group-buy of Isreali bandages and CATs, among other stuff.
