Zombie Squad Retreat - 2005

Postby kyle » Mon Nov 29, 2004 10:46 pm

ZombieCon 2005

We have the location, we have plans and a group of volenteers to put it all together now we just need people to sign up.

We're now accepting registration. I'll be posting this on the mailing list later this week but I wanted to let you guys know about it first:

What is it?

ZombieCon is a four day camping retreat with Zombie Squad members from around the country.

What will we be doing?

We'll have a loose schedule of events during the weekend. More will be added but here are a few events we have planned so far to give you an idea:

- Morning PT
- Canoing
- Visit to a local shooting Range
- Airsoft exercises
- Hiking
- Watching bad Zombie Movies
- Proving a lot of this crap we talk about on the internet

We will provide the land, water, firewood, canoe rental, toilet facilities, breakfast and a BBQ on Saturday and we'll try to have some supplies on hand in case you forgot something.

There will be airsoft rifles and ammo for you to use for the airsoft exercises but you're also welcome to bring your own.

We will have an electric generator available if you need to
charge batteries and such.

How much will it cost?

To cover our expenses and to secure the location for all 4 days of the event, the canoe, and food all day on Saturday we will asking for $50 per person by May 15th.

How do I sign up?

You must be at least 18.

http://www.zombiehunters.org/camp/zombiecon.html

You can send an e-mail to camp@zombiehunters.org for more information or to make other payment arrangements.

When is it?

This Summer. Thursday June 2nd through Sunday June 5 2005

Who is hosting this event?

Zombie Squad board members and volunteers who can be
reached at:

camp@zombiehunters.org

ZOMBIE SQUAD
P.O. BOX 63124
ST. LOUIS, MO. 63163

Where will it be held?

The gathering will be located on private land a few hours west of St. Louis. A map and detailed directions to the location will be provided upon request or with registration. Since this is private land we don't want to advertise it all over the Internet.

If you will need transportation from St. Louis (airport, train station, etc) contact us ahead of time and arrangements will be made. You're also welcome to car pool with us out there if you can get to St. Louis.

If you need any more specific information about the location before your register please contact us at: camp@zombiehunters.org

What will you need to bring?

We will supply breakfast and a dinner on Saturday but you'll need to bring food for the rest of the weekend in addition to portable shelter, and pretty much anything else you would normally bring in a regular "bug out" situation for four days. We will be sending you a list of recommend supplies to bring with you when you register.

If you need food, a tent or any other supplies but you will not be able to bring them due to your travel arrangements let us know and we can work something out with you.

Other details to note:

Alcohol - Please be responsible. If anyone drinks too excessive they may be asked to leave by a member of the Zombie Squad or the property owner. The legal drinking age will be observed.

Firearms – We will be having a “field trip” to a local shooting range but so if you plan to bring any firearms they must be locked up at all times while on the property.

You can feel safe knowing that the organizers of the event have a working relationship with with local law enforcement if there are any problems.

First reply! Also, oh come on! You couldn't wait one week!!?! I would be out of school by then and have a tiny chance of coming!

EDIT:But seriously, don't do anything for me, there's no chance I could make it either way. Thus, you need to post pictures.

I notice that RCS, and bgaesop replied first and for the same reason as I. The 3 of us and Jason I think are unable to attend, so could you post a summary and some pics of what happened. Sounds cool, Kyle.

I'll be there. I'm comming in from New Jersey so I suggest a carpool for people in this area. If I don't get a decent response for the carpool idea, I'll just fly in. Anyone want to pick me up from the airport?

I'll see what I can do to be there.

EDIT: I have made plans to go to a Motley Crue concert, but I don't know when that is going to be.

And, what should we bring? I mean are we going to practice shooting or what? (We could always use paintball guns for practice)

A list will be put together of recommended supplies to bring with you. You won't want to bring too much unless you have a really reliable 4 wheel drive.

We haven't figured everything out yet but we do plan on having some tactical training with paintball and/or airsoft. Probably airsoft if I can find good biodegradable ammo so not to mess up the place.

More than likely we'll also be dragging out an electric generator and a projector with us and watch some zombie flicks in the woods. :)

Forgive me for asking... but why not just run with paintball? Rounds are biodegradable, and the paint washes off in the first rain. Hell, you can eat them by the dozens and they won't hurt you.

If cost is an issue let me know and I can maybe hook up some cheap cases of paint. It won't be the best in the world but it'll be decent enough for what we're doing with it.

Cost is one of the problems. Both the ammo and guns usually cost more than airsoft products.

This is still up in the air but once we figure out who all is coming we can vote on it among us or something.

Kyle, are you leaving from STL Wednesday or Thursday (and what time?).

Slings, how long does it take to drive to STL from Jersey? If it's not horrible, I might try to mash two trips into one and go visit peeps in NY and then meet up with you on the way back or vice versa. Because you know you want to be stuck in a car with me.

I'll probably drive out Wednesday to set up but there will be other people to give you a ride. I'll probably come back in town Thursday morning because I know for a fact I'll forget something. :)

If you guys write an excuse note to my boss...

Dear Employer,

As you know, the Washington, DC area has been and is considered a major target for terrorist strikes. We request the presence of your employee Ghostface to attend a training seminar in wilds of Missouri. It is our intention to better prepare him and your office against a grave *snicker* threat to humanity, as well as an even greater threat to his own liver.

Thank you for your cooperation,
ZS
