EDIT: Technician and General Class Amateur License Notes

Postby Doctor Jest » Mon Jan 01, 2007 10:54 am

I sponsor a school ham radio club, and every year I try to help the students prepare for the Tech test. Whenever they come out with a new version of the test, I prepare an outline of the material covered in each section of the test for the students.

I put these notes on my web site so that they will be available to anyone that might find them helpful.

Edit: I have added notes for the General Class license, using the question pool effective in July 2007. I hope these are helpful.

Edit 2: These notes are now outdated for the ham exams...I need to revise them. Perhaps still useful for study.

Good stuff!

I can personally vouch for the quality of these notes. I just passed my tech exam today with only three missed questions. These were the only notes I studied for the test. Thanks!

Are you going to do something similar for General and Extra?

Doc Jest,

I just wanna say thanks for your hard work on the all the notes you've put together. I'm in the process of making flash cards from the General Class license pool--over 480 questions. So, I can definately appreciate your hard work on those notes. Thanks again.

I have just started studying for my tech/general exams(I am taking them both in one day)...this should be very helpful, thanks.

Just wanted to say a quick thank you for these study guides, I went and took all three tests today, passed the Technician and General thanks to you. Didn't do so hot on Extra, but then I didn't really study it much yet. Will be ready for it next month though.

Thank you, so very much..... I have been looking to get into this, and got a book on Tech class.... and it sits on the shelf.

I have been taking some online practice tests, and I have passed about 25% of them w/ no prep whatsoever (ok, 12 years Army Reserve Signal Corps....oh, and 15 years teaching all sorts of high school and college electronics courses).

This (your notes) is motivating me to take the test.... they offer it 1/month.... I am going in two weeks. :)

Thanx again

I arrived one minute too late to take the test yesterday. One friggin' minute. I am looking for a group that may offer the test other than the one club in Des Moines.

Thanks Doctor Jest, I passed both Tech and General in one sitting with just your notes as study material, and the online tests at http://aa9pw.com/ which I can also recommend. I passed five times in a row the night before testing and felt pretty sure of myself going in to the test.

I didn't have time to go for the Extra (and frankly thought I barely knew enough for the General either) but will at some future point. Right now I'll have to get me a rig, and try this new hobby for real...

Thanks for taking the time to post this online for the benefit of all!

Great notes. I've also found the following link EXTREMELY useful.

http://kb0mga.net/exams/

The guy has 'flash cards' and practice tests for all 3 exams. If you register and login, the page will keep track of your testing/trivia statistics: Ie: whats you've looked at, which ones you've missed, how many times, average score, etc, etc.

Enjoy.
