Well done!

This is the sort of thing I hope to do when we buy a house. Not that it'll be anytime soon, regrettably, but I'm inspired by yours!

More pics are certainly needed.

The other question is: I notice you lean toward a certain type of firearm hanging on the wall. Do any of those boomsticks have the fun switch?

I know this is really Ais's thread, and his room is much cooler than mine is, however, he isn't posting anything else yet, so I'll throw a few more pics up until he gets back.

With the new British tan paint, a little carpet and a few new additions. The bug dark blur in the supports behind the rifle rack is actually a loaded pile of Ar and FAL mags. My AK and M1 mag piles aren't quite large enough to be visible in this pic. The ammo boxes in the shelf under the rifles are full of ammo as well
Image
Speaking of ammo, this is a little of my bulk stuff that I just have tucked away not to touch. It's not part of my normal operating reserve. The cooler is full of ammo as well, in various size boxes and calibres. The cooler just happened to be a handy size box to put it all in.
Image

As this is actually dead space under the stairs, there's a secondary storage area inside this closet, around the corner, under the landing. It's totally enclosed by the foundation walls and below ground level. It's only about three feet tall, and six feet long, although since it's the other side of the staircase, it gets real short real quick but I managed to find a use for a dark, cool, dry place.
Image
Image
Not all of my preps are as cool as a wall of rifles, but I have all the weapons I really need, now I'm pushing into that year of food. This isn't everything of course. The bulk of my canned goods lives in the upstairs kitchen, this is just some simple stuff I put away for a rainy day.

What it lacks in size it makes up for in subtlety. The door is part of a wall in a hallway in out house. It's actually made of the same faux wood panelling as the rest of the wall (which I plan on replacing). Since it's in a hallway, I can't get far enough back to show the entire door, but here's a close up of the latch area, which, while not totally concealed, is at arm's reach over head level, so it isn't actually obvious either.
Image
It also has both power and water, no sewage though.

The best part about all this: It was mostly all my wife's idea.

Jvandenhaus, you have an excellent setup. One thing: don't you worry about mice at all? If I left a bag of sugar and a bag of rice laying around, they would get invaded right away. 5 gallon buckets for me...

+1 to all of that.

My house is strewn about with 5 gallon buckets full of various foodstuffs. A few totes, too, but mostly buckets.

Curiously, my fiancee hasn't asked about any of them. It's probably better than way; keeps the peace.

Okay, not really what I wanted to do. I wanted the pic displayed in the forum without having to go to a link to see it.
But if you bother to hit the link, you will notice a few ideas I got from visiting the ZS forums on an almost daily basis.
The green 5 gal buckets contain canned goods, the tan 5 gal.water containers are filled. On top of the workbench is a red cross emergency radio with crank. On the shelving to the right, not easy to see are stocks of MRE's, ER bars, and additional survival gear in Go Kits. All great ideas I got from this forum. :)

Get out of my head!

BTW while it is a nice setup, I see a disturbing lack of Mosin Nagants, or Garands. :P

Thanks for the compliments on the room. Yes, Tremors did have an influence on the design. About the lack of Mosin Nagants and Garands. I would like to have them, and have wrestled with buying them at gun shows, shops, even looked into the CMP, but I really need to keep my calibers limited, as standard as possible. Just a tactical consideration. 9mm 45cal 223 and shotgun, trying to keep it simple. The "hardware" is a product of about 18 years of collecting. It should be obvious I was going for military/LE type weapons. :D

Nice to see jvanderhaus's pics. Good stuff. That is a similiar set up I had at my old house. My new set up was done when the basement was being finished, sort of a clean slate to work with.

I can see the point here but if you think about it You "need" to think about procuring ammo and parts from any possible invading armys. This will "require" that you vastly expand your armory. :)

I see your point. I have AR's and an AK, so I can count on the US military's stockpile as well as a possible invading force with it's AK ammo supplies (Cuba or Venezuela) . With those weapons and calibers I am relatively satisfied. Otherwise I will have to move my family out of the house to make room for all the other possibilities. :D

That room is amazing. I've got similar plans for my shed when I get the sides put on it. I have less kick ass hardware for the walls though...

The Hardware came 1 per year. That made it easier on my wallet. After a couple years, I would take one year off, and instead get acessories. 8)
