IT ORKED!!! <--this was actually a typo but I'm leaving it because its a million times better.

Thanks guys.

EDIT: It didnt work! I connected and it gave me the chat box but doesn't show who else is logged in and when I type and hit enter my message disappears form the text box like it was sent but it never shows up anywhere. So while I was logged in through trillian I went back into ZS chat through the site and logged in under a different name to see what was happening. My name Seanwins is listed as being logged in but nothing I type is showing up anywhere.

I downloaded and setup Trillian for the ZS chatroom, but how do I open the chat window to allow me to begin wasting my time?

I know it's a dumb question, but I figure that it must be easy, once someone points it out to me...

Thanks,

Does anyone know if ChatZilla is compatible? If so could someone make a tutorial for it?

Yes it is. In fact, I'm in there right now. I've got some errands to run, but I'll write up a tutorial for it this afternoon.

How to get into ZS chat through ChatZilla:

Install ChatZilla

Open ChatZilla. In the client window, type:

type:

/join #ZombieSquad

You're in!

Now, to make it permanent:

Open ChatZilla preferences. Select "Global Settings" and go to the "Startup" tab and the "Auto-Connect URLS" section. Add "irc://www.freejavachat.com" and click "OK" then "apply" the changes. You should now have a section in the left-hand side for "www.freejavachat.com". Select that, then in the right-hand side of the preferences window (it should say "Network www.freejavachat.com") click on the "Lists" tab and in the auto-perform section, add "/join #ZombieSquad". Click OK and apply the changes.

Please let me know if pictures would work better, or if I wasn't clear.

HTH!

Got those without Windows or Mac OS (I don't think Trillian works on Linux) here are updated instructions for Gaim (now called Pidgin).

Download from here: http://www.pidgin.im

Step 1) (Optional) Create an IRC account. This step is not important but it will help to keep people from using your IRC account:
https://www.icq.com/register/

Step 2) Add your account to Pidgin client buy selecting "Add/Edit" Account and selecting IRC in the protocol drop down.

Image

Image
Note: if you created an account be sure to put in your password or you might get kicked off the server. Again.. this is optional

Step 3) Add the #ZombieSquad chat channel to your client

If you did it correctly you'll see this:

Double click the new chat room you created and you'll see this:

Enjoy!

I'm having firewall issues, even when I turn off windows firewall. Does anybody know a way around this?

Define firewall issues. It might be your router's firewall, or if you have a separate firewall in between your network and the interweb. If you can, make sure that the ports your program need are not being blocked off, or see if you can make them be open.

That was clear as mud, I'm sure.

I'm mooching of the school's internet so it could be something with them. I'll mess around with it some more and see what happens.

I'd bet that they've got all the extraneous ports closed down. If you can find a Java IRC client, that's web based and runs off your browser, that might work.

Ok, got it fixed. :D

Was the damn McAfee or whatever is the stupid virus scan software. Had to uncheck the "block IRC channels" thingy. Works fine now, I'm annoying the crap out of SharkChild and Erik on there.
