ZombieCon 2005

We have the location, we have plans and a group of volenteers to put it all together now we just need people to sign up.

We're now accepting registration. I'll be posting this on the mailing list later this week but I wanted to let you guys know about it first:

What is it?

ZombieCon is a four day camping trip with Zombie Squad members from around the country. Come hang out with your fellow zombie survival fanatics. We'll have a few events planned but mostly this will be a good reason for you to get out and play in the woods for a few days and meet other ZS members.

This will also give us an opportunity to get together and decide what we all want to do with this community that we've developed over the last year.

This first camp will be a small gathering. We're limiting it to around 40 people to keep it manageable so sign up early.

How much will it cost?

To cover our expenses and to secure the location for all 4 days of the event we will asking for $50 per person by May 1st.

We are offering a discounted rate of $30 for those that are interested in volunteering their time. We're looking for people interested in hosting a seminar or “workshop” at the camp. Contact us for more details.

How do I sign up?

You must be at least 18. You can paypay admin@zombiehunters.org with ZombieCon in the subject of the transaction or you can send an e-mail to camp@zombiehunters.org for more information (like where it is located, etc) or to make other payment arrangements.

You will then be sent detail information.

When is it?

This Summer. Thursday June 2nd through Sunday June 5 2005

Who is hosting this event?

Zombie Squad board members and volunteers who can be
reached at:

camp@zombiehunters.org

ZOMBIE SQUAD
P.O. BOX 63124
ST. LOUIS, MO. 63163

Where will it be held?

The gathering will be located on private land a few hours west of St. Louis. A map and detailed directions to the location will be provided upon request or with registration. Since this is private land we don't want to advertise it all over the Internet.

If you will need transportation from St. Louis (airport, train station, etc) contact us ahead of time and arrangements will be made. You're also welcome to car pool with us out there if you can get to St. Louis.

If you need any more specific information about the location before your register please contact us at: camp@zombiehunters.org

What will we be doing?

We'll have a loose schedule of events during the weekend. More will be added but here are a few events we have planned so far to give you an idea:

- Morning PT
- Airsoft exercises
- Canoing
- Hiking
- Watching bad Zombie Movies
- Visit to a local shooting Range

We will provide the land, water, firewood, toilet facilities, waste removal, breakfast and a BBQ on Saturday and we'll try to have some supplies on hand in case you forgot something.

There will be airsoft rifles on hand for you to use for the airsoft exercises but you're also welcome to bring your own.

We will have an electric generator available if you need to
charge batteries and such.

What will you need to bring?

We will supply breakfast and a dinner on Saturday but you'll need to bring food for the rest of the weekend in addition to portable shelter, and pretty much anything else you would normally bring in a regular "bug out" situation for four days. We will be sending you a list of recommend supplies to bring with you when you register.

If you need food, a tent or any other supplies but you will not be able to bring them due to your travel arrangements let us know and we can work something out with you.

Other details to note:

Alcohol - Please be responsible. If anyone drinks too excessive they may be asked to leave by a member of the Zombie Squad or the property owner. The legal drinking age will be observed.

Firearms – We will be having a “field trip” to a local shooting range but so if you plan to bring any firearms they must be locked up at all times while on the property.

You can feel safe knowing that the organizers of the event have a working relationship with with local law enforcement if there are any problems.

Hmm.. Good question. Someone thought it was a god idea to have the clause in there. I know I'll be having a few at some point. I guess when the drunk gets to the point of trying to beat everyone to death or setting the forest on fire.

We'll have fire extinguishers on hand just in case.

So when people are trying to convince one another to "Punch them in the eye" or "Kick their teeth in" it's a good time to quit?

Because if that's the rule this isn't going to be nearly as fun as Visioncon was.

If you're like me, the more you drink the more harmless you get. I just don't want to get around the fire with some guy that things he's a badass zombie killer from the future every time he gets two beers in him.

Because if he comes at me I'll die.

Don't worry Gundown, I'll protect you. I know I didn't do a good job at VisionCon and you were mauled by a strange creature but I will not sleep on my watch ever again! I give you my word!

One more thing, if you're driving in from out of town and don't have a problem with car pooling mention that when you register and we'll try and hook people up or something.

I'm sure most of you aren't completely comfortable with letting strangers in your car. Especially from this community. I just thought I bring that up.

We've been talking to the Red Cross over the last few weeks about working with them on a few disaster relief programs in St. Louis so they know about Zombie Squad.

I received an email today from the director of the volenteer department for the Red Cross and he said he would send a representative to come and talk a little about survival preparation at the ZS camp in June if we wanted. A lot of what they would discuss is probably basic stuff but we might be able to learn a few things.

Edit: Oh yeah.. I don't mind going out of my way a bit.. say 50 miles or so.

Thanks for the offer. We should be OK with airport pickups but I'll be sure to bug you if we're short.

Would I be invited also?

$238 for a round trip flight to St.Louis, I might try to see if I could make it.

Anyone got any ideas for how I can get my gear on a plane without getting striped searched by Airport Security?

Yay for zombie-rama! This will be a blast, kids. I'm busy (mentally) constructing an obstacle course and a regimen of PT. Would anybody be up for pugil stick training? :D

So my friends and I used to batter each other with all kinds of pugil-esque padded instruments. If you guys are into it, I can make recreations of just about anything, and while they won't prevent injury, keep it to a minimum when used by people who are at least not trying to actually hurt the other person. And hey, they look kinda retarded too, so be warned...

Strange creatures at VisionCon?

Postby frostbyte » Fri Mar 04, 2005 6:56 pm

Strange creatures mauling innocent bystanders at VisionCon held in Springfield , MO. No one is quite sure the true nature of these bizarre mauling fiends nor does there seem to be any clear motive other than to maul individuals in a frenzied manner. At least six accounts of these maulings are said to have taken place from Saturday night alone. If anyone comes in contact with these beasts just stay calm and never look it in the eye as that is a challenge the creatures will not turn down and is certain to lead to mauling.

I would be up for that.

That’s what I am worried about. Last thing I want is them confiscating my stuff. I got an interesting idea today though. Would any of the ZS members be willing to let me send my Non-airplane friendly equipment(Entrenching tool, pack saw, nail clippers, knives, etc…) UPS to them and give it to me when we meet up? Also I should note I am opting not to bring any real firearms since I assume that will be more hassle then it is worth. I do have a spring Airsoft HK USP that I might send with my equipment so I can have a weapon in the simulations. Also I would be willing to teach any attendees some of the basics to the Combat Self-defense I teach.

I'm down for some combat self-defense training, 'specially what with all the mauling beasts on the prowl. I'm cool though, you really only have to worry about them when you touch them where they pee...
