NC Meet and Greet

Postby Dave_M » Tue Jan 16, 2007 8:43 pm

Alright, since we now have (2) forum members living in Wilmington (Cyrmo and myself), I think we should have a Meet and Greet sometime in the near future.

So, if you live in NC, shoot me a PM!

Damn it...try me sometime soon after June 7th, I should be on leave then. Wilmington is only a short 4-hour drive from Lexington.

I'm definitely down for this....Pick a weekend, just about any weekend. If any of you out-of-towners need a place to stay I could probably put you up here at the Hacienda.

I'm in Alabama right now, but may be home (Cherry Point/Havelock area) sometime soon. It would be nice to meet some fellow ZS members if I'm in the area.

Is anyone from NC going to Z-Con this year besides Erik and myself?

Man, that blows. We need to try and have some sort of get together thing here in NC for all the NC ZS members. I was thinking of Charlotte as a possible meeting place sometime after Z-Con, maybe in July. Does anyone else have any other ideas or interest in this?

Unfortunately, almost all of the ZSers from NC are on the east coast. It makes it hard for us (two) westerners to meet and greet. Bronze, if you handn't come along, I'd still be all alone!

*EDIT* It only makes sense for the SC members to come to any meetup we have.

What about camping at Uwharrie National Forest? I go wheeling up there quite a bit. There is a small shooting range. Pay sites and free trail site (first come, first serve). I've been spotting a few the last 2 times I went.

I't sort of a happy medium between east and west.

Hey, I'm up for that. Anyone else interested? Maybe sometime before the summer is over and Erik the famed Manbath Warrior has to go back to work? 8)

You don't even have to have a 4x4. although it makes it more fun. ATV's are welcome there too. I'm not sure how the Forest Service feels about a bunch of loonies in their woods with guns, but I guess it can't hurt.

If I had to hazard a guess about how the Forest Service feels about loonies in their woods with guns, it would not be positive. We tried to get permission to film part of a movie (with real guns) in a National Forest and it wasn't pretty. I suppose we could ask though. The worst they can do is say no and put us on some sort of watch list.

Well they have a range there on the Uwharrie land. I'm sure if were not carrying them around loaded and keep them out of sight when not on the range I'm sure we'll be good.

I've been up there a bunch of times in the ol XJ. I'm up for one in the near future like before they close the place down for the winter.

I would be up for an NC meet and greet. Maybe we could start with a nice dinner somewhere central and if that goes well, we can plan further NC ZS events.

Honestly, I'm itching to meet up with folks who can teach me a thing or two about emergency preparedness and survival. it's something I have been interested in for a long time now..... that and zombies of course!

I live in NC, and I'd be more than happy to meet like-minded folks in a meet and greet.

Probably the best thing to do, in my opinion [from what I've seen other boards do], is to set a meet-and-greet up on a weekend somewhere during this upcoming spring and iron out the details between now and then here on the board.

Uwharrie National Forest sounds great! I am up for camping anytime of the year. I'm based just outside Charlotte, in South Carolina, but am iwlling to travel.
