Words fail me, but his contributions to our understanding of the outdoors and bushcraft bestow him some immortality. Enjoy the hike Woods Walker.

:ohdear:
Caught news of this just today as I cruised around YT. I was (am) shocked. What PistoPete said above. I left a tribute on the obituary site, still under review (Burlington, VT). If you can, might I suggest, put one out there; his family would surely appreciate it.

Truly sad. I haven't been here, either, for awhile, but used to lurk, before becoming a member, mostly due to WW's posts. Then the rest of you good folks took hold. I sent a PM to Mags, in PA, knowing he hasn't been here in years. If anyone knows how to reach him, I think he'd want to know. I loved their gear reviews, when they went back & forth.

Woods' MBO reports were the best!!

God speed, sir, RIP - gone WAY too soon, ladies & gents!!

I first saw the news on the BCUSA board. Came here to see it this was the WW i had so enjoyed over the years.

Sad news indeed

Perhaps now he and Black Dog can travel together...

Thanks. As you say, with how prolific he was with his posts it is a bit of a daunting task. I won't bore you with the details but I will say that I have 390+ pages of his posts to weed through (not all are topic starters and that's what I need to make the links) and so far I've completed just 2 of them. My original estimate was that it would take me a year to complete the library if I did about a page a day but real life is intruding and slowing me down so I'm now estimating about 18 months. Wow, such shocking, terrible news. I've been on this site for quite a while, more to learn than to post and his posts were always top notch, and one of the reasons I have been coming back for so long.
Best of thoughts to his family, friends and loved ones.

Dang. Dang. Dang it. Sad to read this. It is like being told to follow the trail into the canyon and at the big stone marker choose to follow the path up into the cold places or the path into the rough walking areas, but when I get to the old trailhead the stone marker has been taken away.
R.I.P. Woodsman. Thank you for helping to light our way.

Unworthy of this wilderness,
a majesty too great for kings,
lakes and rivers, wide as dreams,
moving faster than my words;

I'm humbled by this wilderness,
I have so little left to hold.
Few are these last provisions;
I am but a guest out here.

I am so small beneath these tall trees;
some fall hard as others rise.
High winds lift them up 'round me;
drum beat step in their own time.

Bright sun sneaks to hide each day,
so stars more brilliantly can shine.
Dancing native spirit skies,
calm us now, these anxious souls.

No distractions but these sounds
in quiet nights, when stillness cries,
'Forget each second, minute, day.
Treasure what is to be found.'

Respect the fire-maker's food
and all the skills that bring us here.
In the dark, I'll hide ‘til sleep
sharper senses softly stills.

'Small in this big wilderness;
it is much stronger than I am,
'though it shares two-edged kindness
as it wraps me in its will.

It calls me back each year to start
again to find what days forget,
far 'way from this great wonder
lessons by its harshness taught.

'Though it's hard, this wilderness -
I know enough to stand in awe;
I am not worthy of its wildness,
but still it calls me, calls me, calls.

If any of his family is reading this, please know he will be missed, and genuinely meant something to this community. He and I had some great medical discussions over the years, I am genuinely sorry for your loss.

His extensive lore, patience with questions, and upbeat personality made reading about one of his latest treks the high point of my day. ZS has tons of members but only a few as dedicated as he was. He was a very good moderator and taught us all so much by living the outdoor life most of us can only dream about. RIP HK33K and now Woodswalker, pillars of our community gone too soon.

I also saw this news recently on BCUSA. So sad to hear, and one of my favorite YT channels.

Kevin will be sorely missed among us. I hope his friends and family remember his smile and company fondly and realize how many people he inspired and befriended.
