Band-aids are not enough for an edc FAK

Post by Purple_Mutant » Tue Jul 12, 2016 6:28 pm

I just cut my hand with my spyderco delica. I am sitting in a waiting room and was trying to cut some food. So out comes the FAK and I am off to the bathroom. The cut on my palm was bad enough that I used a gauze pad, gauze roll, and medical tape.

I am very gald I had more than ban-aids. My EDC FAK is small but sill allows me to treat more serious shit. Once I restock the FAK I will post a thread on it.

I make sure even my level 1 FAKs have a couple of 4x4 dressings and a similarly sized surgical sponge. And duct tape if not actual medical tape.

Sometimes you get more than a boo-boo.

Yep. This booboo resulted in 8 stitches. I cut down to the fat. Thankfulky I missed any tendons or nerves. I was really glad I had those extra bandages in my FAK.

I've taken a layered approach.

Everybodies training set is different, so their FAK will reflect that.

There is no such thing as too many Steri-Strips. God knows those, some surgical gauze, and clear medical tape have saved my ass on several occasions.
