You got the 3 pack or 5 pack or whatever pack they're selling now, didn't you? Take a razor to the bottom of the wedge and shave off little by little until it's easy(er) to take down, but still locks up tight.0122358 wrote:So update:

I'm not looking forward to taking it down to install my H2 buffer and Springco spring...or to clean it...etc...
But it's solid now and no wobble. So I've got that going for me.

But I did shave it down a bit so it is easier to install.

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
Here is a fast AR question. Somehow I mixed my buffers up. Does an AR-15 Colt Sporter Carbine with a full sized stock (not collapsible) use the full sized buffer? Also does an Oly 9mm with full sized stock use a full sized buffer. I was changing out stocks and got things all confused.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
If it's a fixed stock than it should used the longer fixed stock buffer.
Carbine (collapsible) stocks use the shorter version.

I knew the collapsible stock took the shorter buffer but was confused by the 9mm of the Oly and shorter gas system (is that the correct term) of the UL Colt Sporter. Ok so if it has the standard stock the longer fix stock buffer is the way to go. That's what I put back in the two guns so sounds like I am good. Thanks
On a side note I lost the sling holder/mount thingy on my Oly's full fixed stock. Lost one of the back screws that holds the butt plate a well. Hardly ever see these mil parts. Anyone know a site that has little AR parts? Lots of this mixup and lot parts happened in a move. Not sure why the butt plat got separated from the Oly in the first place.

The first and most important question to ask yourself before beginning an AR15/M4 quest is: Do I want 5.56 or 7.62? I personally like 7.62.
I have heard of interchangeable uppers. Has anyone had experience with this?

Colt makes the only one I'm familiar with. Requires a special lower to go from 7.62x51 to 5.56 or similar sized rounds.ArmorOIC wrote:The first and most important question to ask yourself before beginning an AR15/M4 quest is: Do I want 5.56 or 7.62? I personally like 7.62.

I don't think 5.56 to 7.62 uppers OR lowers are interchangeable in any way shape or form the dimensions are totaly divverent the 7.62 bcg is massive compared to 5.56 and on the lower the mag wells are totally different sized. Those are just a few differences.
Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
Nice. One would reasonably expect, however, that you could only shoot one at a time, so which do you prefer?nolongpork wrote:I own bothArmorOIC wrote:The first and most important question to ask yourself before beginning an AR15/M4 quest is: Do I want 5.56 or 7.62? I personally like 7.62.

...unless you count 300BLK as a 7.62 rifle.
Which it is.
Different uses/different areas where they excel with 300BlK vs. 7.62x51 NATO of course, but if you're looking for something to use inside 300 yards or so, 300 BLK may meet your needs...and retain compatibility with 5.56 ARs for parts other than the barrel.

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
I like them both different tools for different jobs with the benefit of same basic ergo's. If things go real bad and situation is unknown It is Ar-15 time because I can carry 8 mags and pop off rounds like an African warlord if needed.ArmorOIC wrote: ... so which do you prefer?
If I am planing something offensive or need a heavy hitter or distance. I would take the 7.62 I am minute of man at 500m with a 16 inch barrel and a 1-4 ilum scope that makes a nice ghetto red dot at 1 power. 7 mags weigh more and hold 100 less rounds than the (8) 5.56 mags I would take. (2 buddy clipped in rifle six in pouches)
Not to mention there is about a 4lb difference in rifle weights sans ammo.
So I will hump the 7.62 if I need a big swatter and I have a reasonable expectation of determining the engagement. If it is a total unknown My 5.56.
Hope that explains things a bit.

Is it possible to use KNS anti-roll pins in conjunction with an ACT trigger?

Bill actually recommends not using KNS pins with his triggers but I really don't think it's going to make much difference.
KNS pins are really just window dressing outside of some very specific circumstances but as stated I really don't think you're going to hurt the trigger by using them.

Yeah, but he has an ACT so technically he has to ask Bill's wife.Dave_M wrote:Bill actually recommends not using KNS pins with his triggers

What do you guys like for two piece keymod type hand guards lately? This would be replacing the OEM hand guard on my M&P-15. This is my backup/range carbine. Not looking to hang a bunch of do-dads on there, but a better forward sling mount option and maybe a WML at some point is a consideration.
