Rolled it over the 100k mark. Not really prep, except in that now I can consider the engine to be properly broken in.

Tperkins wrote:FINALLY got around to replacing my catalytic converter. For the auto guys on here, the substrate came loose and was rattling as all hell at idle, but no codes (at throttle I just couldnt hear it haha). Put in a Magnaflow OEM replacement, sounds a little throatier, which I dont know if I like. Loud is fun, but too loud is not conducive to the grey man theory...

But then again, the 3 non-factory antennas and star of life decals might tip people off  Tomorrow I'm going to replace the O2 that we toasted trying to take off the old cat-pipe we took off.

Lmfao I have the same problem with my Cat in my 95 S dime show truck man. Lol the one show I.bottomed out so hard I ripped my header downpipe right off of the header flange and it heated up and shattered my ceramic plates in the cat n now they rattle like hell. So annoying. Didn't realize it till after we cut the flange off and rewelded the downpipe back up n it quieted down. Now all ya hear is the rattle lol. Screw it, I'm cutting the sum b*tch off and.running a straight pipe again. It ran so much better.

Now as for my BOV blazer, I changed up the wheels and put the '95 stock alloys on to give it a much wider stance. I think.it looks awsome but once I get my lift kit in, ill have to consider the bushwacker 3" flares if I keep these wheels on with the 33's I'm buying. But aside from some wiring, I bought a Craigslist cargo rack for the roof because I want to do some custom work. So its gonna be some cutting and welding this weekend :):):):):):):):) lol. Any one can anyone think of an idea of something light that I could use as an air defuser on the front of the cargo rack until I get my LED lightbar?

Not done today, but a few changes I made since I picked up the new ride. ETA* Not pictured is a 200rd 5.56 box used as a med kit. It sits behind the back seat. It's filled with enough stuff to handle just about anything I would encounter on the road. Enough to keep a couple people alive until medical services show up anyhow.

Pioneer kit and two 1500rd 7.62 boxes. One box has normal Mx stuff. Diesel additive, oil, tranny fluid, rags, funnel, etc. The other is a road safety kit. Flares, 10lb fire extinguisher, jumper cables, etc.
Image

Door mods. Truck knife and pistol holster are hard mounted. Gloves, EOD breacher bar, fire kit, pistol mags, and a couple other items are there.
Image

Itty bitty fire extinguisher, but easy access for quick response. Enough to ensure all occupants get out. Below the gauges is a switch for my chip. Below the fire extinguisher is an Edge Insight so I can monitor vehicle stuffs.
Image

iPod mount. I got tired of the iPod sliding around everywhere so I took the dash apart and routed the cable from the stereo to the doodad holder (non BT stereo). Gorilla Glue holds it in place. I was worried about temps making the glue soft again, but so far it's been hot enough for my iPod to tell me it doesn't want to work until it cools down, and the glue has stayed solid. Since that experience, I picked up a windshield shade and the temps have been manageable.

I love your setup, I just want to point out two safety related things. If you've tested them and beleive they will be okay, just let me know.

1) The axe/shovel mounts, if you got into a high-speed collision, would those proceed to dislodge and fly threw your rear window into your passenger compartment? I might suggest moving them to maybe mount against the front of the truck box (which would allow allow room to use tailgate for seating/cooking/ect)?

2) Is that fire extingisher mount very secure? For the same reason as the above, might this become dislodged in a collision, or might you hit your head on this if you were flung forward and to the side in a collison? Maybe mount somewhere near the center console or seat, with the advantage of it also being reachable by a passenger in the event you may be unconcious or something?

Dont take it as me bashing your idea, but working on some rescues, flying objects in passenger compartments can be very bad. Just an idea.

Otherwise, love how you have outfitted your vehicle, especially the gun and knife mounting; is the mag holder hard mounted as well? Also, maybe think about either adding a crowbar or replacing the pickaxe with a crowbar?

I've gone out bouncing around (unimproved roads) and everything has stayed secure. With the items on the tail gate I am more worried about up/down movement breaking them free than immediate deceleration. I did a few tests with the extinguisher before mounting it for the same reason you suggested. It held up to my abuse, and I'm not a nice guy. I do want different mounts for the pioneer kit. You can see the zip ties being used on the pickax and ax, that's because the velcro straps I picked up suck. They're rivoted in place with reinforced holes, but the velcro is crap. I want quick release metal bands, or the small buckle kit you find on some mil gear. I haven't been able to find either yet, so the zip ties will have to do until then. My plan has an auxiliary tank being mounted in the front. The tools may be moved to it then. Still figuring out exactly how the bed layout will be when that happens.

The mags are not secured, as they are also for my belt. Loose mags go in the glove box.

I've thought about a crowbar, but for any emergency use that might raise the need, the pick ax will work. If it's an emergency extraction, the pick-ax will work as a pry-bar or window buster. If the vehicle is not on fire/no immediate danger of death, they can wait for a rescue crew. I just can't justify the additional possibility of theft without a reasonable benefit. Those tools are to remove items hindering forward movement of the truck (and also camping). I doubt I'll have much need in GA, though the storms have laid plenty of debris on the road. In OK, the ice storms knock trees onto the road.

For clamps, look into these http://www.endroad.com/index.php/quick-fist-mounts.html - They are absoloutley outstanding, I have a bunch on my truck, and our department has them on all our rescue trucks, that have seen anywhere from -5* to 110* heat (or higher since they're inside the cover) that hold all my tools. I'm sure you could get them to bolt on where you other ones are, and they aren't too expensive. Regarding the crowbar, mine was only like $12, so I wouldn't think theft would be a huge issue, but it's your truck haha, pickaxes arent really meant for prying and dont have too much leverage, but to each their own.

**Edit: Yeah, criticism and suggestions, useful or not, always add something to the discussion and ideas circulating in our heads haha.

Hey Chris the setup looks great. I am actuall doing the same thing you are for the pistol but going to be mounting it just forward of the seat on the console, as I am a right hand shooter, I would be able to get it easier there.

Also it wouldn't hurt to get a crowbar. They are cheap.

Otherwise it looks like a gret setup so far!

I'm a righty as well, but my truck came w/o the center console. Until I raid a junkyard and grab a new interior, placement works. It's also the spare holster I had available. If you're going to mount it on your right, but to a left facing surface, you'll need a lefty holster.

I'll be interested to see what you come up with. I might change mine once I complete my interior. I have grown pretty comfortable where it's at. I might mount another one on my right. Can never have too many pistols handy.

I'm going to try a cheap nylon fabric style holster I found locally, and screw it to the console. Worst that will happen is ruin a $15.00 holster. I will be doing that this weekend. I also need to find a place for my oracle HID flashlight, my Ontario knife company SP16 SPAX. Then I need to buy a rifle holder for the back window. Once those are complete the last thing I need is a Stetson holder for my truck and I will be good to go!

I'm been thinking about a rifle rack too. I'm not a big fan of advertising what I have on the inside, so I shy from the rear window mounts. I like the ceiling mounts though. With tinted side windows they're pretty well out of sight. I've also thought about .mil style racks. As much as I don't want anything next to my knees like that, the out-of-sight is my draw to them.

so i am looking at those clamps and really consideriong them. do you have pictures of them in use? how good are they in the long term use? I want to use them to mount my Ontario Knife SP16 SPAX,

and my Oracle 9" 24 watt HID flashlight.

Replaced the front window on the box with a NOS one that was not all fogged up. (New Old Stock)

Ordered a replacement flasher unit.

Installed the LED black out driving light thus completing all the exterior LED light upgrades.

I colormatched my grill (Olympic white) an painted the emblem (silver metallic wheel paint). I have a new emblem coming that is powdercoated. That will be a cool emblem too.. None of this was for bug out vehicle prep reasons but just for aesthetic reasons.

It is ugly. Great idea by the industry, but horrible implementation. You could just paint it as well. It won't stand out as much, and you won't have to fill in the clip holes.
