If I've made the choice to draw my weapon it's because I'm going to be killed/injured and I'm not going to shoot to wound, hold at gun point, or attempt to arrest the perp. He's made his decision to do harm to me or my family, I'll use all my training to put him down with either bullets, knife, or hands. As far as being ready, I have a US Palm Defender for my SA XDm, provides level IIIA body armor, my pistol, and two extra mags, takes less than 5 seconds to put it on.

Very nice, basically what I had envisioned in my head. May I ask a list of the contents?

It's an ARES belt, MaxPed double 20rd pouch + 2 Lancer 20rd mag w/ 77gr Blackhills OTM, Condor dbl pistol and single pistol + Surefire G2, ACU medi pack, two NAR Izzy bandages, 2 NAR TQs, Mora knife, Glock 20 and 2 pistol mags. I also have a IIIA vest.

Doc Torr wrote:1. Check your local laws. Restraining an intruder could be a legal issue. I'm certain there could be a civil suit if your cat burglar has a good lawyer.
2. With an M4, flexicuffs, a plate carrier, and a guarantee from my BC that if I shoot someone (and honestly think I or another was in danger) that he'll back me in front of anyone who comes asking questions, I will not flexicuff anyone by myself. Hell, I won't do it unless the guy covering me know how I move, and which way the guy getting cuffed is gonna fly if we scrap. That's just asking for a concealed weapon, or a grappling match wherein I can't get my gun into play. Now even if you do break contact and shoot El Duderino, you've gone from legitimate threat
"Officer, he entered my home, I drew, he surrendered, and I held him at gunpoint until you arrived"
to legal fiasco:
"THANK GOD YOU'RE HERE OFFICER! This freak tried to cuff me and he said he was gonna make me pay and he kept waving that gun at me, so I tried to run from that maniac and he shot me!"
TL:DR If you try to cuff someone in your house without their express written consent, I reserve the right to point and laugh when you get shanked/shot with your own gun/sued for double what you're worth/charged with any number of felonies.

But a bump in the night belt is a really great idea. I've consider putting together one myself, probably not as involved as Regular Guy's but something more than a light and gun I keep in the safe by my bed now.
