Cold Steel Assegai Launcher

It should probably be a shoulder type weapon.

Thank you yet again! That was fantastic.

I'd love to take that on a hunting trip, tell everyone I'm hunting with a slingshot, and then endure their laughter and mockery untill I get Shaka's Wet Dream off the back off the truck.

We are now planning to convert the big slingshot cannon to shoot the Assegai. Then the spear would fly at 174 fps (=120 mph). This would mean it flies more than 250 yards far, with about 800 ft-lb.

We want to shoot against a car door.

We want you to shoot against the car door.

We want you to have lots of Assegai and be able to see how fast you can shoot the behemoth.

We are very, very excited.

Now you need one that shoots a fully armed Zulu warrior.

That thing's badass!!! :)

-

Only thing is that when you're pulling it back since there's so much force involved I was thinking that if you slipped (latch failed or whatever) you might REALLY end up fucking up your hands since they're in between the beam and those bands.

Maybe since your projects are getting bigger and bigger a winch might be in order. They don't cost much.

http://www2.northerntool.com/winches/hand-winches.htm

Then your hands wouldn't be in the way at all and then there's no chance of an accident.

The old Roman siege engines used a winch, just a wooden one with ropes/cord.

At any rate just an idea. :Shrug

Anyway I always love watching your videos, keep it up.

I would go with Tesla, slightly more mad-scientist-y.

I have used home made winches for the big cannon, and also for my strongest lead shooter (fires 22mm lead balls at 80m/s). Works pretty good, but cocking by hand is quicker.

Okay, cool. Just didn't want to see an accident happen and didn't know if you'd considered it.

A 'Goat's Foot Lever' of some sort might be a possiblity, though with that length of draw it would be tricky to make it a managable size.

The family farm I grew up on had a cliff that overlooked a sweeping river flat. When I was a teen I used to make these half assed catapultae and ballistae and shoot things out over the flat.

This video's subject matter is another example of wishing I knew in high school what I know now (the other example being girls, lol).
Damn Joerg, that thing is as truly awesome as I expected it to be.

And I second everything Ad'lan said. Moar video, Moar distance, Moar bigger, Moar spear, Moar power, Moar awesome! :awesome:
