Honestly, I'm hoping that the producers sway away from the comic series... Yes, the Gov's "Pet" would work, but only if they plan on introducing his backstory (still like my idea of the "Rise of the Governor" novel, becoming a miniseries between season 3 and season 4.... It would make a damn good 4 or 6 episode mini, IMHO)...

Although I can see Merle slipping into a role from the graphic Novel... At first helping them, only to try and discover where they were, taking over the character of Ceasar Martinez...

Also, Whatzisname that fell on the fence and ended up tied up in the shed for a few days, I wonder if him, Nebraska and his group are actually members of Woodbury?

Oh... I guess someone heard the interwebs chuckling over the manicured lawns when Andrea and Shane visited the suburbs, but this was pretty cute;

That miniseries would be great!

The possibility of Randall being apart of the Governer's group was brought up on Talking Dead. The one producer asked about it refused to answer. So I'm saying it's a very good possibility.

I guess it's possible. But how far did Rick & Co. get from the farm? I remember he said he'd been driving the Suburban for an hour with the gas gauge in the "red".......But then again, if they get too far away, how the heck are Michonne and Andrea gone find Woodbury if they have to hoof the distance......unless they get picked-up and driven there by some Woodbury scroungers.....In which case, Randell's group could very well be from Woodbury......Okay, head hurts now....."Fire bad, tree pretty." :gonk:

I can imagine them going there but even if they can get away with it on mainstream TV, the producers will have to walk a fine line. AMC has a genuine hit on their hands. And I'll wager the majority of the show's audience has never even seen the GN. They enjoy the show because it has attractive characters, interesting situations and some reasonably satisfying zombie killing action. But if this show continues marching towards the heart of darkness that Kirkman plotted out for them, the show risks alienating that mainstream audience. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see the show fully embrace that horrific vision, but my tastes and John Q Public's are quite different.

So with that in mind, for me the question isn't so much whether they can get away with showing it on TV, but rather will they really risk doing so.

That's what I was thinking.

I have a feeling the GN characters will just be more fucked up than portrayed in the TV show. It's just easier to get away with that in one medium than the other.

In Talking Dead, they said that the Governor (in the show) is charismatic but evil and twisted. So he's got to do some nasty things for TV....

SPOILERS

I forgot to mention earlier: Does he chop off Rick's arm in the show?? Or is that plot item covered by Merle already. They won't have two one-armed men, I don't think. UNLESS MERLE DOES IT FOR REVENGE.

When you stop and think about it, the TV center of faces isn't that bad for TV. They show heads of walkers already Neither is the pet girl.

As for Michonne, they can do a lot with "off camera screams and pan-aways" to get the message across, don't you think?

Me too... Of course in the graphic novel, I kinda felt a lot more respect for Lori's character, instead of the soap opera queen that the tv show made her into...

Then again, I've found my appreciation for characters far different on the show, actors for one, and behavior of the characters, a lot changes...

Which is probably a good thing...

I agree with this completely. I.e. Shane. TV Shane needed to die like he did, maybe even worse. GN hadn't really developed enough for me to want him gone (that said, the way he went out was pretty cool).

I got a kick out of the bit on Talking Dead when Chandler Riggs (TV Carl) called in. "Nobody will be telling me to stay in the house anymore". Did everyone finally figure out it's a pointless endeavor?

At this point, I'm really more curious to see HOW people die than WHO.

That's probably the safest attitude to take going into the third season.

You mean you haven't yet? I started rooting for them in the first season.
