My wife asked me what I wanted for Father's Day, and I said "Baby I put so much into this MilCopp class that I don't want anything els....ooooh shit I take that back I NEED a Leatherman MUT!"

She's like "No, hell no you don't need another stinkin' multi-tool!"

She doesn't understand. Braxton has shown me The Way with multi-tools.

Have your woman call my woman, she can explain.

That MUT is cool. I must have loaned it out 10 times.

I have heard hate for the MUT (on this very board) but I'm glad to see my faith in Leatherman has been restored by you guys.

Who hates the MUT? and for the love of god why? I use it every day, and I have yet to find any issue with it. I beat my tools to shit. The mut beats back. It has a fucking hammer built in.

I can't recall tbh, I think it was in response to someone asking if they should buy one for a deployment saying how it was more a pure weapon maintainence tool as opposed to an all-round multi tool. I remember at the time it was enough to give me second thoughts about getting one when I was at a local Leatherman distributor recently (not a lot of AR in my life right now* as you prolly know). It was a good price too. :(

From what I saw of Braxton's (and I used it several times) it's just about game changer nevah been dun befo level stuff. It's got a bronze AR bolt carbon scraper, so you likely won't be using that, but I didn't see anything else that wasn't useful on it. It's got a pocket clip, carabiner, hammer head on the butt, knife, saw, bunch of bits, a punch, replaceable wire cutters, and the side of the pliers are actually threaded for a bore cleaning rod.

I mean, you won't use the carbon scraper, unless you like to scrape stuff, in which case you'll use it. My grandpa (who died just about when multi-tools were becoming truly awesome) used to keep a dull blade on his old Case knife for just roughly scraping stuff and digging dirt off stuff.

I want to buy one. It looks super functional and tough as nails. Focker and I were the first to use the carbon scraper on Braxton's, and Braxton was raving about how he uses it at his job all the time.

Braxton's rougher on shit than Dave. Dave abuses shit to make a point. Braxton does it because it gives him an erection.

I love the MUT. I even have a Raven Concealment one-off of a holster (it's only a one-off because after they did mine they said they'd never make a holster for one ever again because it was a severe PITA).

Great tool to have in the box.

I can safely say that about half of the metal parts on The Brick have come into contact with braxtons MUT at one time or another.

You know, I was looking at getting another tool, and debating between the MUT and the Charge ALX.

The charge has 154CM knife on it, which is great, and a few more bits on it that would come in handy at work, but then I looked at my pile of dead multitools and considered what was broke on most of them:

The wire cutters.

Once the wire cutters get the edge rolled over on them, the tool jaws dont open correctly. You end up filing them down so they have clearance to open and close the pliers, and then they no longer work as wire cutters. These are *ALWAYS* the first part of the tool I wreck, and since they're integral on every other multitool Ive used, there's no fixing them.

The fact that they DO come out on the MUT was the deciding factor for me.

Replaceable inserts are the shit, yo.

10 years ago I wondered why they didn't use carbide inserts on MT's, until I saw the price my shop was paying for a pack of 10.

The price has come down a lot...

Yeah, any multi-tool I ever owned that wasn't a Leatherman almost immediately bit the big one when biting big wire (farm work, entertainment industry, etc) and my Supertool and Wave from back in the day would've succumbed soon enough if they hadn't have been lost or stolen before the inevitable.

I hadn't planned to be in the LM distributor's shopfront when I turned up there as it was a spur of the moment thing so I hadn't really done my research yet - I just remember the nice sales guy was schmoozing me like I was .mil, .pol or .contractor (I wasn't even wearing a 5.11 tuxedo, lol) and as I dislike coming off as a poseur I turned down the deal on the MUT out of hand when he started the part of the sales pitch where I could use the bolt over ride tool to clear jammage on "my M4".

On the upside I got to score some points by correcting him on which tool in the LM range had superseded the Kick.

The first batch of pics in the AAR thread are downright awesome. thanks Dave. :D

Like I said in the bowells of the board V_Lee is a lot more of a pimp than he lets on and the picture of Crypto & B3 working the barricade is the most romantic thing I have ever seen to date.

Things that this class showed me I need to buy.

1 New Ear pro.. Mine blew both mics.

2 A good holster for my G19. I lost my pistol. Twice.

3 A new sling for the Scar.. My Vtac was showing her age.

I want some damn ear pro that doesn't lift off my right ear when I'm in a funky position. Don't think that exists though.

Braxton, seemed like everyone was running either safariland or bladetech holsters fwiw. My bladetech doh did great once I got the retention set right.

I'm glad I got that ares sling, it was way easier to adjust on the fly for transitions etc than my vcas was.

Comtacs and Sordins are very comfortable to wear for extended periods and stay in place.

I just spent the last three hours looking at ear pro.. I am more confused than when I started.

I don't need the ability to jack into anything, I just want something that is not going to fuck up and that I can have on all day.

Not having it cost three hundred bucks would be nice as well.
