No, we have absolutely not been preparing for this day to come. We have not been planning for the day that a single unfortunate man gets his face eaten off by a mentally or pharmacologicaly unbalanced sociopath and the grisly photographic evidence gets released onto the internet.

This day caught me unprepared. It's grotesque and tragic, I am certainly appalled and I wish this sort of stuff didn't happen (and TBH worse stuff than this probably happens every day, in places further away or less covered by our media than Miami) but I do have to confess I'm sort of morbidly fascinated by it. Hence the love of zombie films.

What would be hella cool would be to hear about the victim recuperating and getting one of those edgy new face transplants. They can do that now, it'd be awesome to see the guy walking around three months from now with a completely new face. Even better if it was a face that looked out of place on his body, like if the only donor was 20 years younger or something. I'm sure he doesn't have insurance, and he's destitute, so it probably wouldn't happen without some kind of philanthropic intervention, but it would be cool if it did.

I would then execute my BIL plan. Four little kids is no way to head for the hills. Especially if the hills have eyes.

I would think that a genuine cannibal zombie (meaning person not in control of their faculties ala Haiti vs re-animated dead) would give me a bit of leverage.

"I told you so" doesn't even need to be said. It's self evident. Rubbing it in to your spouse is cruel and also unnecessary. The best way to deal with such an event is to simply deal with the event and leave the obvious to itself.

It is far more important to ask: "OK, what do we do now?" And from there.

Which is actually what this thread is supposed to be about thus it is in the What Would You Do? section. The OP started this thread using the Miami Zombie as a what if this were the real beginning of ZPAW, and asked what would you do. So far the majority of posts on this thread show most of the people will debate the event on online forums rather than get prepared. Only a few of us will actually get prepared it seems when the real ZPAW happens.

Even though this forum is veneered with a healthy amount of zombie fandom and speculation, I have a feeling that most of us would find it very hard to believe that our beloved metaphor was actually in fact a reality....

Exactly. I've seen some pretty weird things in my more than half century of existence and while I can't honestly fathom just how, biologically, the whole zombie undead thing could actually happen in the real world that doesn't mean that it couldn't. With all the weird new exotic diseases constantly being discovered, all the weird combinations of chemicals and drugs we're exposed to, as well all the various forms of pollution and who knows what else is out there, I suppose any combination of "stuff" could actually create a zombie or something zombie like. Heck a half starved drug crazed mob would certainly resemble fast zombies.

I honestly hope Zombies don't and can't exist, because dealing with an actually Zombie Apocalypse would honestly be the worst nightmare I could imagine....and I can imagine a lot.

To that end, I would say that if your are prepared for the worst thing that could happen; a Zombie Apocalypse, then you are pretty much prepared for anything and that I believe is what this website is all about, but YMMV.
