Short canoe trip on a lake followed by a long fight with the canoe and boys to get back to shore with a couple tons of water inside the boat. Also, couple hours of clearing brush, bundling tree waste, and setting out front with hand saws and a hatchet.

I'm more of a newb/wannabe/lets-not-mention-totals type myself. My lifts are all weak by PL standards, but they're stronger than they were six months ago! I bought some used squat stands last fall, and they're awesome.

Don't confuse a belligerent and aggressive attitude with the strength, training, and conditioning needed to prevail in a fight. How do you know you have the Will To Win, if you don't even have the will to train?

Mine aren't anything to write home about either. Are you using a program? The spreadsheet for Madcow 5x5 is awesome.

Planted 2 blueberry bushes and 2 black berry bushes. I cleared about 40 sq ft of lawn to plant them. It took about 4 hours of work with a pick, shovel and wheel barrel. Ugh, only 2 more apple trees and 2 more pear trees as well as 4 non fruit bearing trees. I'm whooped.

For sure :P especially when it involves digging ditches with mattocks in 90+ degree weather. It's strength AND cardio! and a heatstroke...

Rested today. Pick back up tomorrow, hoping to bump up my numbers a little. I can push myself more.

Postby wee drop o' bush » Mon May 28, 2012 4:00 am

I've a customer booked for a full body sports massage in an hour. Then I'm going to my running club for an hours training at 6pm. Then I have to help move, dose & shear some more of our sheep this evening. :gonk.

OK. Gonna post a tad bit of background before I describe what exactly I did today because I've never posted on this thread before. If the background is inappropriate to have let me know and I can take it down. I've recently gone from 257 lbs. to 235 lbs. within about three months. Eating Paleo accounted for most of that and I've been doing couch to 5K also. Recently started the "Starting Strength" weight lifting program by Mark Rippetoe. Today was a lifting workout and here's what I did.

The notation is weight in lbs. including barbell X reps X sets
Squat
45X5X2
60X5X1
75X3X1
90X2X1
105X5X3
Bench Press
45X5X2
60X5X1
75X3X1
90X5X3
105X5X3
Deadlift
135X5X2
145X5X1
155X3X1
165X2X1
185X5X1

That's a good looking plan. If you go with one like Starting Strength, Madcow 5x5, or 5/3/1 you can find badass Excel spreadsheets that help you track your progress and set up your progression in weight for you.

Nice, love to see people paying attention to the compound lifts like squats and deads.

Going to try and knock this one out tonight. I've been using bands and doing 50 pushups every night.
