Interestingly, both instances involved charging boars. And both Winchesters had bent lifters gumming-up the works.

I've never had that problem with any of my Marlins.

There's one on page 13 of this very thread.

Had to clear a similarly stuck Henry 44mag once. Scary shit with a live round in the gun.

Gotcha. Also,.. I'd need to check the width of the receiver vs the rear sight because the question had nothing to do with a scope rail.

The coffee has kicked in now. I'm back on my game.

**XS lists a Ghost RIng Sight for the rossi 92.**

In that case, he could simply get the XS sight that's made for the Rossi 92. :?

Also, I'm leery of the pistol caliber Winchester 94s. I have been witness to two of them (a .357 mag and a .44 mag) being rendered inoperable from being short-stroked.

For a pistol caliber levergun, I stick with the Rossi 92 and Marlin 94.

*facepalm* How the hell did I miss those?? LOL.
Emailed XS sights about whether or not they can ship to NZ.

Cheers guys!

Looks like you have to remove the firing pin safety if you want to put it on a rossi

Not a big deal, I never use the firing pin safety anyway. I'll lower the hammer and cock before firing. I find it hard to manipulate the firing pin safety under stress/in a hurry.

Cheers,
Sean.

Can anyone ID the levergun in this picture? It's a sample picture from an local, upcoming auction. I doubt it's what I want, but you guys might surprise me.

I think it's a .410 shotgun, probably single barrel (single trigger, hammer, so not a side x side).

By the way the top rifle looks like a WInchester 1894 to me.

Yeah I think it's a top-eject '94 (not 100% certain because of the photo angle), so pre-'83 production. Beyond that, I don't know the Winchesters well enough to tell you any more. Looks like it's in good condition though. There may be a way to determine externally if it is a pre or post '64 gun, but if so I don't know what it is.

You say you doubt it is what you want- are you looking for something specific?

1894 in .357. Almost impossible to come by up here. Lots of 30-30 or .32s, but people are either holding onto their .357's, or they're bought up so quickly I haven't found one in the past year.

Appears to be a pre safety 94. It may be an angle eject variant, which you can tell by looking at the top. It has the toggling lever unlike the 92's. Mvegas is correct. Nice looking gun.

Yeah they're pretty rarely spotted in the States too. As for the used market, I think it's the combination of the rise in popularity of SASS shooting, combined with the across the board spike in ammo prices over the last 5-10 years making pistol-cartridge carbines more attractive. I know I won't be giving mine up anytime soon.
The problems Marlin has been having hasn't helped either. Prospective Marlin customers are having to turn to other manufacturers, or look for something used.
I do wish you luck in your quest, my northern friend.

Until Winchester returns to building normally-priced leverguns, I think there will be a constant shortage. And that may be never.

A couple pics of my revised and final edition holster for the Ranch Hand. The backing is rigid and allows for a fast smooth draw.

GN, is that a leather wrap on your lever too?

Also, I think you need a slot to access the loading gate while holstered. Just my opinion, YMMV. It still looks slick as hell, if I get my fingers on one, you can expect a pm to be sent your way.
