A friend has one of those Beretta 9mm carbines and says it is the best. I have the Oly 9mm carbine. If the Beretta were available back then I would have gotten it as I have a ton of 92 mags. I have always avoided Calico and Hi-point. The Hi-point does not have a large cap mag and as for the Calico it is a POS per everyone that I have even knew that owned the f@cking thing. I did see a new Bushmaster 9mm.

Oly has a new 9mm that takes a glock mag.

I like mine but don't like the stiff and heavy modified Sten mags all that much. 9mm carbine is tons of fun to shoot. Would much rather use one of my other AR's for self defense but for plinking the 9mm is a good time.

Calico BITES. Thats all there is to it. There a lot in the way of better options. Secondly before you take a "fact" on the selling points, and this goes triple for range ratings, talk to people who are familiar with the ammo.

Calico's have been nothing but reliable for me. But then again I read my manual, most guys dont.

Calico a good anti-zombie pistol/carbine?

Postby Dabster » Sat May 19, 2012 2:10 am

Worst gun I have ever owned.

Bought it around 1992 for about $650. I also got two 100 round mags and two fifty rounders. The built in sights are useless. They move. A lot.

No worries! They make a scope mount for about $75. Unfortunately these make magazine changes as easy as changing a diaper.

Reliability? Ha! Giggle. Snort. When it wasn't jamming, it was firing in bursts! Great fun and very exciting until you realize all of the wasted ammunition.

Read the manual? Heck yes! Send it back to the factory? Three times! I hate Glocks but I would prefer one glock to ten Calico's!

Buy ANYTHING else.

Really.

I've owned 3. All garbage. The gun shop just kept giving me another one every time I brought it back. JAMOMATIC!!!!

Want high capacity? Get a ps90 or surefire 60 and 90 round ar15 mags.

Dead_One....I just have one question for you.

Did you by chance use the Necronomicon to summon this thread back to life?

I hope this is a sick joke because every Calico I ever had worked 100%. I am kinda offended by this statement.

Offended? You resurrect a thread from 2007 that thoroughly savaged this gun and discover that, not surprisingly, the passage of 5 years has done nothing to change people's opinions of this turkey. And you're offended? Why not just give yourself a paper cut and pour some lemon juice on it?

Did you read my post? With all respects, the Calico is the worst firearm I have ever owned.

Glad yours works. It might be the only one.

Played with three in the nineties, including one .22 pistol.

I'd rather take my chances with a Hi-point. Hell, I'd rather take my chances with a retired M9, at least I can clear the M9's jam-o-matic ass and reload very quickly, and use it as a field hammer. (Note: I specified retired M9, as the ones I see in service all suck, likely due to hammer-related mag-well damage)

There I was, reading through a way old thread waiting to see where the necro was, got so caught up in enjoying the old faces that I forgot to look for the necro...

Then I found myself impressed that the new forum software had been able to integrate the old youtube links and embed the thing, "wow, it's amazing what they can do these days - gee, our admins are awesome...", etc, etc..

...wait, what? lol.

I'm glad you are happy with your Calico Dead_One, is it accurate out to 300m?

My problem with the Calico is that they had a good idea but never improved upon it. I mean, why not turn the feed lips around in the magazine thus having the magazine run forward of the receiver and turn it into a bullpup? It does however us the H&K roller ball lock up system.

Not sure if you are trolling or not but this is the internet, don't take it personally. Besides, how fucked does the calico have to be to own a worse reputation than a hi-point carbine?

Indubitably, my good sir and/or madam.

Are those ever going to be imported, or is anyone over here going to start making them. Because they are awesome.

Wait do they suck too, and I just don't know about it?

My dad had one of these before the ban, his was the.22 version. he never had any issue with his. Even when unloading as fast as he could..... but I was young so I may not have seen the flaws of the weapon because I thought it was so cool that it had a 100 round mag lol.
