KC, I don't know if it was on your list but bring a back up carbine and pistol if you can. Spare batteries for optics, tons of water. I will be bringing extra rifles and can throw in my ak as a back up if someone needs it.

On the note of chest rigs/ plate carriers I ran my HSGI two years back and will just be running off of my "battle belt" set up since I have no need of testing out the rig again.

Did I mention water and snacks??

Got it and I appreciate the advice. I am sure some things I need will be left at home but I bet some of my ZS buddies will lend gear that I need and also I am happy to borrow out gear. I plan to bring 2 rifles (AR & AK) and might bring a backup AR. Will also bring my new XDM 5.25 and the trusty Glock22.

Question - Long range tactical shooting?? I could toss in the .308 Remmie 700 for some 300, 400, 500 yd shooting if anyone else is interested.

Love to. I am loading a Sierra 175 Match King with 44.7 of Varget and it leaves the muzzle @ close to 2,750 and my chart goes to 1,000yd but the range I shoot only goes to 300yd so I would really really like to push it as far as possible. I am way into Long Range more than carbines but I know being able to shoot carbines good could be a life saving skill. It is going to be a good weekend and I'll bring the 700 if others want to shoot LR too.

I certainly don't WANT to need spares of seriously expensive central kit, but I have them. I'll wait until after the class to bring my mis-indexed, battery-eating Aimpoint in for service. I'ma bring my Beretta, Kahr P9, holsters for each, my set-up DD carbine with EOTech, and my wife's Sig 556 that I can part out with the buffer tube and buttstock of the DD if it craps out, and throw the Aimpoint on and hope for the best.

I've got a chest rig off a ZS-er a few years ago in Trading Post.

Questions:

1. Belt? I've got a heavy-duty, pretentious "Safari" belt that my friend gave me. It seems like it'll hold a lot.

2. Pants? Do I need to worry about pants? Can I run this in denim? Nylon? Hiker pants?

3. Shirt? I was gonna use those Columbia collared fishing shirts that are so cool (temperature-wise. They actually make you look like a complete tool).

I'll be sending the deposit and ordering kneepads tonight.

Yeah, I know. I'm too deep into the wallet to care about looking right. Sticking out like the class dunce will likely be neither inaccurate nor unhelpful to my training.

Where I the hell do I buy those Altaflex knee pads? Staples? Their website doesn't seem to want to sell them to me.

Found an envelope. Payment going out now.

Considering how casual friday dress this/these guy/s are and what/how they're shooting I think you'll do just fine with what you're going to wear.

And Crypto could always bring you one of his spare banana hammocks.

Ok no more talking about how broke we're all gonna be for the next six months or we're all going to end up drinking a batch of cyanide laced Gatorade together at the end of the weekend. We're all in the same boat and I don't want to even talk about gas$. But we all signed on because this will likely be the most useful thing we do for ourselves this year and probably the most damn fun we'll have all year too 8-)

I think it goes without saying that this will be a 'wear whatever the fuck is comfortable in shitty MO humidity that you don't mind destroying' class? No speedos  please.
Image
Oh yes I fucking did

I think we'd all also agree that we should each bring what we got and run it like a boss. I only have one AR, but it's a BCM upper on a spikes lower, so that motherfucker better not break beyond all the spare spring and lpk and spare bcg I'm bringing. I'm bringing two sigs for my side arm, and the main one better not fucking break either with what it cost (don't ask). It did fine at SC milcopp pistol in January. Have spare spring kits for those two also, so if anyone else runs a p226 I have springs, and I also have tons of AR springs etc. If I haven't sold my g19 by next month, I'll bring it in case somebody needs a backup g19. I'm willing to share replacement parts if I have something that'll fix somebody else's broken whatever.

I'm planning on running mostly off of my battle belt and running the chest rig to top off the belt as needed (and if it gets too fucking hot for me I'll just use it to drag mags around wherever we're drilling). Both are HSGI from top to bottom, so I don't expect any failures there unless I fuck something up. My mags are lancers and the internet says they are titties so they better not suck either.

I'm bringing a camelback 3L lowpro backpack thingy for hydration. I also run granola bars like a champ since my blood sugar loves to just tank sometimes if I don't...

SO! Lets all suck it up and try and forget the crypto picture and how much peanut butter and ramen we're going to have to eat later, and look forward to some awesome learning experiences and a great vacation well spent.

Remember when you could buy 5.56 whenever you wanted and 9mm was everywhere?

These are not those days. Due to my work schedule, every time I get an email notice about ammo, it's gone before I can get home! I've got some 5.56, but the 9mm is skinny.

I wish I had bought ammo back when I was buying motorcycles!

Check out freedom munitions. The have really good prices and pretty good reviews. A friend of mine order 2000 of the new 9 mm last week and got it 7 days later. I ordered 1000 rounds of the training ammo for 179.00 it's got to be better then wolf.

http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/product_i ... m-fmj-ammo

this has been my go-to ammo for targets: 9mm 124gr fmj made in the good ol U.S. of Mexico $199 + shipping/k
No failures of any kind in either my glock or either of my sigs fwiw. Runs about as dirty as American eagle redbox stuff, but who cares at 19c/rd?

They have wolf in stock 9mm for the same price, pmc, fiocchi and American Eagle for about 240$/k too, l dunno if you like one of those brands better. Looks like they have a lot to choose from, but I'd order soon. These guys usually ship next day for me and I receive within the week. Dammit they also restocked my Winny talon sd ammo... must not buy....nooooo.....

And it looks like they have WPA 55gr 223 in too by the 500 at 129$
http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/product_i ... 6-fmj-ammo
Not much selection for fmj 223/556. I've gotten the Privi 193 from them, but it looks like they've chopped it to cases of 200 for $80 (this is my indoor range ammo, lame I know).

Hope this helps.

Wideners won't even SHIP my shit until Monday. I'll have exactly one, maybe two weekends to sight everything in, shake the gear down, and make adjustments or get up to speed.

This is making me nervous. I've parted together a spare rifle and have a spare pistol, but I'm going to have almost NO time to practice.
