Kelty Buttress 4 - 4 Person Tent $119.74, ships free. Reg. $219.95

http://www.campmor.com/kelty-buttress-4-4-person-tent.shtml

Image

Goes for $206 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Kelty-Buttress-4-Person-White-Putty/dp/B004HRTS8M

As always, four person really means 3 plus gear unless you're all unusally close. Gets generally good reviews and seems like a solid value for a decent quality, 4 person tent with aluminum poles, the all-important full coverage rainfly and an integrated vestibule. The specs say 15.5 sq. ft. for the vestibule, but don't kid yourself. With this kind of design, most of that area isn't very usable space unless your gear is somehow stable slanting at a 45 degree angle. It does offer a place to stow and put on/take off your footwear while protected from the elements however, which is a really nice feature.

Specs:
Sleeps 4
Min Wt 7 lbs 15 oz (actually pretty light weight for a tent of this size capacity)
Pkg Wt 8 lbs 12 oz (actually pretty light weight for a tent of this size capacity)
Dimensions 8'2"x7'3"
Area (Sq. Ft.) 59.3 + 15.5 vest
Int Height 4'11" (not standing headroom, but tall enough to put on pants while standing up  )
Pack Size 26"x8"
No. of Poles 3
Pole Size 11mm, 8mm
Pole Material Aluminum - DAC PressFit
No. of Doors 1
Hooded Fly no
No. of Windows 1
Gear Loft Included
Floor Material 1.9 oz 68D Nylon 1800mm coating (How can they print this drivel and no one questions it? 1800mm is 1.8 meters. That's about six feet. Does Kelty expect us to believe that the thickness of their polyurathane tent coating is greater than the headroom of this tent? :? )
Fly Material 75D 190T Polyester 1800mm coating
Wall Material 68D dye free polyester taffeta/Polyester No-See-Um mesh
Roof Material Polyester No-See-Um mesh
Netting Polyester No-See-Um mesh
Color Fly - grey, Body - white - Floor - putty
Style Dome
Activities camping, scouting, canoe, zombie bug out (with optional laser sentry turret), EMP attack refugee housing, small - medium asteroid strike mass migration shelter, bohemian love nest.
Use 3.5 season - spring, summer, fall, cold weather no snow
Special Features vestibule, flashlight loop on ceiling

I noticed today that Fred Meyers (a Northwest chain of department store) has their hand tools at buy 1 get 1 free again. This is a great way to get some basic tools at a decent price. In years past I loaded up on true Vice Grip brand pliers, torches, and crowbars, and other stuff. Xacto knives are also part of the sale, as are protective eyewear, dust masks, and earplugs 8-)

SWFA is having some Facebook "like" promotion going and currently has a few SS HD scopes on sale. If they get 10,000 "likes" there is going to be an amazing deal on a combo pack of 2 scopes.

http://www.facebook.com/pages/SWFAcom/20965581078

Image
Currently up to ~8k "likes" so aside from the 10k code, any of the other codes should work.

Botach has an unimaginably horrible reputation. I would never order a thing from them.

I gave them a shot. Got my stuff today, ordered it the day the above post was made. The packaging wasn't great, one blister pack came open in the box, however nothing was damaged, it got here fast and was exactly what I ordered. (2 of those stoves and 12 extra fuel bricks.)

I ordered one of those bags from Botach after I posted my orginal find from Amazon. But I am still waiting for it and its been what? 3 weeks? They said they sent it and gave me the tracking information and for some reason it has moved all over the east coast and hasnt reached the Rocky's yet. Botach really needs to find a new shipper.

So, since we're talking about Botach....

They've got a 50% off ALL THE STREAMLIGHT!!! sale going on right now.

Streamlight nanos are 5 bucks. Buy 10 or 20 and you've got a couple year's worth of random gifts. I like mine a lot.

But, it's Botach. Caveat Emptor....or maybe just don't emptor altogether to be safe.

More Botach Tactical talk...

Most of the Streamlight flashlights they're selling are way over priced and the 50% off only brings them down to the regular MSRP. That being said there are a few real deals mixed into that lot. A couple I noticed were,

The Streamlight Enduro Headlamp on sale for $11.50- http://www.botachtactical.com/stenledhe.html. I own several of these and they are great little headlamps. They are about $4 cheaper on Botach right now then anywhere else.

The Streamlight Micro Stream on sale for $14 - http://www.botachtactical.com/stmipe.html. I own one of these too and like it a lot. Good size and capabilities for EDC. at $14 it's about $3 cheaper then anywhere else.

Botach, love them or hate them, they do have free shipping so with that in mind these two lights are good deals.

Coleman Exponent F1 UltraLight Stove $19.99 + FS

http://www.buy.com/prod/coleman-exponent-f1-ultralight-stove/204375292.html

Image

Currently sells for $36.99 (shipping NOT included) on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Exponent-F1-Ultralight-Stove/dp/B0009VC7UG

Weighs incrementally more and doesn't have quite the cache of a Jetboil, SnoPeak or MSR, but also costs less than half as much. A good, sturdy BOB pack stove. About the only way you can get a butane cannister stove cheaper is to buy a Chinese clone off of eBay, Amazon or one of the Hong Kong direct ship sites. They are probably fine, but Buy.com is reputable, ships fast and Coleman will honor the warranty if you have problems down the road.

Coleman Exponent 9741-700 F1 Powerboost camp stove, which offers fully adjustable heat up to 16,400 BTUs and can boil a liter of water in 3 minutes and 40 seconds. Features Coleman's PerfectFlow feature, it's regulated for a constant, consistent burn (without flaring or flickering). Other features include a push-button electronic ignition and serrated pan supports that fold away for compact storage. It uses resealable butane/propane cartridges (cartridge not included), and one 220-gram cartridge will provide up to 50 minutes on high or two hours on low setting.

Limited lifetime warranty

I did a lot of comparison shopping on this one, so I'm pretty sure this is a good deal.

B & M Military Surplus has complete woodland camo MOLLE rucksacks for $49.95. Instead of selling assembled packs, they are selling all of the components as a kit. This is great for someone, like me, who is planning to use the MOLLE components to upgrade an ALICE pack.

Here's their product description:
Complete Molle Pack System, ON SALE, (Assembly Required). We send all completed parts as follows to make a completed pack. Consists of: Molle Main Pack, Molle Frame, Molle Shoulder Straps, Molle Kidney Pad, Molle Sleep System Carrier, 2 Molle Subsistence Pouches. ALL VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT!!!

Based on my research, this is at least $20-30 less than you can get just the straps, kidney pad, sleep system carrier, and sustainment pouches for anywhere else. It's not stated what generation frame is included.

I ordered mine either Thursday or Friday and just received notice that it shipped out, so order turn around time seems pretty good. This is my first order with B&M, so I don't really know what to expect. If there are any major issues, I'll be sure to edit this post.

The goal solar charger can be had from amazon for $89 with free shipping at the moment - save $10 off the buy price. No idea if it's worth it though, just offering alternatives.

http://www.amazon.com/Goal-19006-Guide- ... uckgo-d-20

Note that based on reviews some stock of this unit has an issue with the battery unit overheating. There is a way to confirm the issue visually and the manufacturer will apparently replace the bad piece with a good one. YMMV.
