My first question - what is your goal? There is no "standard" BOB, so if you're in a flood/earthquake/urban zone or whatnot, it helps to know. I only scanned your list, but you should have one good fixed blade knife. I highly recommend Bark River CPM3V blades for their durability. I also see you're taking it to work, so is this a BOB or a GHB? Do you not plan on going home first?

As far as clothes go - I prefer all synthetics. They dry quicker, retain their shape and they stay comfortable even when wet.

You need a water purifier, or the tools to make a solar water still. Purifying water tabs are greats as a back back up. But not in a BOB. Maybe a GHB if that is what you end up doing. But even then, that's dependant on how far you are from work and whether you even need a purifier.

Personally, in your shoes, I'd be looking to make a GHB with an eye towards making your feet comfortable if you have a long journey and it must be on foot. I learned this lesson on 9/11 when subway service was out for large sections of track. Keep your feet happy.

This is a very valid point. a lot of this gets overlooked in a GHB, happy feet. We all know you cant pack a pair of hiking boots everywhere you go, but you can pack and wear quality socks. I keep an old pair of Nike's and socks in my truck. I need to add extra socks to my GHB.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

I don't know the distance you'll need to travel, but other items I suggest:
Another pair of non-cotton socks.
A Nalgene (24oz water in AZ?) Also a container to use with the water tablets
A quick grab/eat food item. (granola bar, etc)
pair of leather gloves

trade out the boxed water for real sturdy water carriers, like a canteen. Then add a canteen cup so you can boil water to make oatmeal and such. get soem kind of filter for water. tubing to help gather water

repair items: sewing kit, duct tape, saftey pins, a coupe of nuts and bolts, one heavy duty needle or awl.

Intel items: AM/FM radio [ham would be better], monocular, binoculars or other small scope, spare keys, copies of important papers, flash drive

Meds: OTC drugs, ace bandage, moleskin, frensel lens, sun screen, sun glasses, latex gloves. SALT. Does you multi tool have tweezers or scissors?

Gear: more ways to light a fire, some kind of shelter [from the sun if nothing else.]

Defense, think about it, what CAN you have a work? Get something that will not get you in trouble.

Other stuff: large trash bags, ziplock bags, tyvek envelopes rope/cord

There's a start. I would like to know more about the 'multitool' and teh emergency blanket.
