Start thinking about water sports again 6/9-10

Yes, it will soon be time to drag out those kayaks ya'll bought last summer and loading up them up for some overnight paddling. I'm thinking maybe a Memorial Day Weekender in Southeast Okla on the Lower Mountain Fork River. This outfit has an 18 mile overnight run. That river looks like it runs faster than the Brazos. Who's is up for it? If this is not a good weekend, let's hear alternative dates. Or if you want to do a daytrip, we can plan one of those also.

We will probably invite the OKC chapter to join us for the Beaver Bend run. There's also some peeps around Paris who want to possible become a new outpost of our own chapter. So it would probably be a good idea to go make a run up there just for public relations purposes.

I'm always down for some paddle boat action! I would prefer if we could push it back to the first week of June though, the Dallas Derby Devils have a bout that Saturday night...

Ok, that's an idea. I just tossed out the date to get the ball rolling. But Beaver Bend will definitely be an overnight trip.

Plus things won't be as crazy, or as expensive, if we don't go on a holiday weekend.

Early or mid June sounds good to me.

That Oklahoma trip sounds nice, but will they let us just put in and take out? Sounds fairly organized with a 'designated campsite' and kayak/canoe rentals...and rental cabins available.

Look again at the top banner on the main page where it sez "Private Boat Shuttles". I'm thinking they'll accomodate.

After Memorial Day is ok with me. Provided ya'll are motivated to get on the road early on a Saturday. The river would probably be more in need of a clean-up after a major holiday anyway.

What exact date are you thinking here? I have family in town till the 3rd of June, but I so want to be in on this. Is the 9th out of the question? Can I bring a kayak friend? He's a ginger, so he lacks a soul, but more than makes up for it in his fierce fighting abilities and magic powers.

No exact date yet but we'll keep in mind June 3 is out. I got no problem with the weekend of 6/9-10 myself.

bring whoever you want soul or no souls. As long as the souless type isn't zombie you've tried to disguise as a ginger with red spray paint.

Come to think of it, I've never seen him eat or sleep....

The outfit you mentioned has prices on their website that include equipment rental. Do you know if they discount if you bring your own?

I haven't talked to them but they have private shuttles. The going price for those is generally around $20-25 per boat. When we decided on a date, I'll start getting dollar amounts.

I wonder if we can convince them that mine's just a really big duffel bag.

I bet we could brother! Besides they charge per boat, not for blow up toys.

We have somewhat decided upon June 9&10 for this expedition. It will be an overnight trip of approximately 18 miles. Need to know:

Who's in?
Who has their own boat?

before I can get prices.

I'm in, but I may be canoeing instead. I tore the anterior talofibular ligament in my ankle, and not sure I want to go the extra mile with the kayak.

I have a coworker who's maybe interested in coming along, but she'd need to rent a kayak. Do we know what that would cost?

Maybe nothing. If AMS can't make it, she can use mine and I'll take the canoe. Right now, he has dibs.
