Just found a new H&R 870 clone locally for $175...I need more 9mm, but I don't have a shotty, and there's a 3-gun match at the end of the month I'm going to. This is the same shotgun I was going to buy anyway, should I go for it?

Wife picked up a magazine called Recoil.... Imagine Maxim magazine, glossy, but seemingly dedicated to the shooting sports...
In it was an article about Rifle Dynamics RD 74....

I'm kinda digging it....

PolyTech or Norinco Type-56... I know a guy that has one, but he isn't budging on it. He said he'd sell it for $1,300.00, but I won't have that amount in quite a while... Then again, I can probably wait it out: no one around here is going to pay near that much on an AK, so...

It is. What's even more insane is that it was originally going to be $1750 until he forgot how much he asked for it. Then he said, "Did I ask for $1,300 the first time?" I, seizing my opportunity, simply said, "Yep, sure did." However, it was also the first "assault" rifle I ever shot and I can't find any that cheap on GunBroker (of course I can't, it's GunBroker). He said he might get it out of his bunker (I guess he literally has an underground storage thing somewhere that only three people know of) and bring it to my graduation party. If so, I'll probably fondle it, whisper sweet nothings into its chamber, and take a few dozen photographs of it for... personal reasons...

I thought it looked really "terminatorish". Kind of whip it out and everyone would stop, stare, and then say... "what the F***?"

Here's the "hate thread" for that Mossberg, if you're interested.

Does Atlantic Firearms have them in stock? I believe they have a .223 one with an AK-100 series stock, but that's obviously more expensive than what you're looking for. I think they advertise the "hunting" ones like that, too, though.

Brownells/EOTech CWB T-Dot sight. So awesome, so expensive. Why must a respectable optic cost half as much as the entire rest of the rifle? This sight is the only one I've seen that can make me justify spending more than the $75 I spent on my 2x magnification Tru-Glo.

Swedish labor is expensive  Also patents, R&D, good glass, etc. I'm sure the circuitry in stuff like Aimpoints is not that expensive to make, it's just the major players in the combat optic world, (Aimpoint, Trijicon, Eotech) all have huge market share and anything that tried to compete is going up against giants and a reputation of actual combat durability that is really hard to achieve, requiring military contracts and years of war to gain.

Nothing at Atlantic, very little on Armslist. Saiga has a new importer, announced at SHOT, so supply may be tight for a bit.
