My wife and I just joined the ranks of those Evil Gun Owners! While I had shot my father's guns in the past, I'd never owned one. We just got a Ruger 10/22 Carbine for me, a 10/22 Compact for her, and a S&W M&P22 pistol for both of us to share (for now). Plus a membership that allows us to shoot for free 4 days a week at the closest range. We're also scheduled to take our CCW class and start the licensing process. Hopefull, towards the end of summer, we'll be able to afford to pick up a M&P9 Shield for her and a M&P9 full size for me to use as our concealed carry weapons. We figured we'd get more skills for less money using 22LR for at least the next 6 months or so, plus the advantage of not beating up my wrists (carpal tunnel syndrome) using defensive-caliber guns.

I'm stoked!

congratulations! welcome to the party pal

Re: Fletcher Custom Browning Hi-Power

Postby Browning 35 » Sun Apr 29, 2012 7:32 am

I picked up yet another Browning Hi-Power (it's a disease of some sort  ).

It's a somewhat beat up 1980 era BHP with that greyish military style finish.

Image

It looks better in the pic for some reason (maybe 'cause I cleaned and oiled it and then wiped it down with a silcone cloth right before).

Reliability on this one isn't that great though. Took it to the range and I couldn't even get through a single mag without a malfunction (The loading and firing sequence went something like this : I'd get a FMJ into the chamber...it would fire and then the next round would do a nose dive into the ramp...clear that..repeat..same thing..repeated this several times..finally changed mags..oiled it, inspected internal parts and did an ultra quick cleaning..got off 5 rds before the next malfunction..took it apart again and looked for anything out of the ordinary yet again [nope, all good]..loaded and fired it...few rounds out and then a jam..said 'Fuck This' at that point). Never had a BHP do that before, plus the trigger felt like it was 12 pounds (weird right?).

At any rate I just basically bought it for the frame, slide and barrel and I immediately sent it off to Fletcher Custom (*Click*) to get it customized.

In a few months it'll look kind of like this one (minus the beaver-tail...I didn't go with that as I've never had a problem with hammer bite) and plus I got the reliability package, a trigger job and a few other things done to it.

I can't wait to get that thing back.

Got it back today.

Man, I haven't posted here in ages.

Picked up a Leupold VX3 4.5-14x40 LR (Long Range, 30mm tube with side focus parallax adjustment) for a Browning X-Bolt Hunter .308 I bought a few months back. While I was at the gun store I noticed a Sig P226 Elite Dark in the "used" rack with a big "UNFIRED!!" note on the price label. Inspected it and sure enough, no evidence of firing or holster wear. I've been lusting after a 226 Elite Stainless for a few years, but I've been quoted as high as $1400 for one. The price on this Elite Dark was $800. Even though it isn't the cosmetic finish that I wanted, I couldn't argue with the price. I walked out with a new scope and my first semi-auto handgun.

Credit card took a beating, though.

PTR 91 on its way in.

Now I need to find the collapsing stock for it, maybe, integral bipod, claw style scope mount, scope and 20 mags.

Always dress them from success.

Just put a down payment on a Liberty Franklin 27 gun safe in gunmetal/gray with black chrome hardware. It's all decked out with power, lights, electronic locks, door pouches, and the upgraded bolts. It was new out the door for $1400 so I hope I didn't get a bad deal.

Ordered 175 rounds of Federal 9 pellet 00 buck, feeling like a little kid at Christmass!
Was listed at 129.99, best deal I've seen on any buckshot on this side of the 49th.

Been waiting on 4,000 Federal M193 rounds I ordered from Brownells. I ordered them over 2 months ago and they've been on backorder ever since. Not sure if anyone else ordered from them, but I'm ~100th in line out of 700, and it could take another month for mine to come in.

I would have liked one of the GSG-5s. Their airsoft line of merchandise is pretty decent actually (they're a wholesaler), but I've heard their .22 StG44s and AK47s are just meh.

Grabbed another case of IMI M855... wasn't expecting to see it in stock again so soon after they ran out! This is some of the best 5.56 you're likely to find... after shipping, it came out to $0.37/round, so it's not cheap but it's sure as hell cheaper than the XM556FBIT3 I've been slowly building up stores of!

Also, another case of twelve-gauge LE127-00. Nearing my goal of 1k 00 buck rounds!
