Below is a list of camp supplies suggested by the RFL Organizers, along with notes on what is needed covered for our team.
Open Tent Canopy (optional) - If anyone has a pop up canopy we can use let me know. We were gonna use Dragon Rouge's but his is no more. If no one has one, I'll get us one.
Campsite Floor (optional) (i.e. turf, tarp, rug) - Got it.
Lawn Chairs - Bring your own.
Campsite Theme Decorations - Since we are doing a Walking Dead Survivors/Disaster Preparedness Camp we need props. I have various sized ammo cans that are OD and Desert Colored. I also have MREs, Mountain House and some #10 can of Freeze Dried Foods for demonstration purposes. I also have some large FAKs relocated from my previous office for demos. Since everyone is "supposed" to bring their BOB, we should a decent supply of other gear for demo purposes. The one thing I don't own preparedness-wise (and as Chapter President I hate to own up to that fact) is a fire extingusher. Could somebody please bring one? And if you have any camo netting or any other appropriately themed stuff, bring it.
What you cannot bring - Do not bring any kind of weaponry, not even your rubber knives or airsoft pistols/rifles. This event is on a school campus and zero-tolerance still applies AFAIK.
Team Banner or Sign - We will have the chapter banner and I think M1lkm4n said he still has Gunslinger's flag and pole. Uh, flag pole that is.
Duct Tape, Zip Ties, Bungee Cords - I notice they left paracord off this list. We must educate them on that usefulness of that particular item.
Table – M1lkm4n and Dragon Rouge got us covered here.
Pillows, Blankets, Sleeping Bags - BYO
Walking/Running Shoes - ditto
Proper Clothing for weather (jackets, sweats, ponchos etc) – are you detecting a theme here?
Team themed T-Shirts or Relay T-Shirt – We will have a few ZS tees and Chapter tees available. I also have the RFL shirts for team members. But save those for after.
Campsite Map - We are Campsite 152 in Section E
Activity Schedule – got it
Garbage Bags – You’re supposed to have one in your BOB so we should be covered.
Drinks and Snacks (There is a Food Court but feel free to bring your own drinks and snacks for your team) – Remember those MREs I was talking about? Or bring what you want. We can’t do any cooking so keep that in mind. And if you want to help with making jello brains for the Zombie Brain-Eating contest or donate chocolate for mini-zombie brains, see M1lkm4n.
Remind your team there is lots to do and purchase at Relay to bring plenty of money, small bills helpful to all vendors
Board Games (Monopoly, Sorry, Yahtzee, etc. there will be a tent where you can go play board games after midnight) – to practice warding off boredom in the ZPAW. All I own is dominoes and cards.
If you have a Mr. Relay contestant be sure he has his outfit!! – this is an opportunity for you guys who feel the need to embrace you inner whatever to dress in drag and go around soliciting money in a semi-legal fashion. S/he who collects the most cash will be crowned Mr. Relay. Multicam tacti-kilts do not count as drag!
There are also some Rules of Behavior so I will list them so you can’t say you didn’t know.
Appropriate behavior by all participants is expected at all times and locations during the Relay event.
Administrators will be on-site to monitor activities throughout the night.
No campfires or open flames on site. I don’t know if this pertains to Coleman lanterns. I’ll find out.
No alcohol or tobacco - chewing or cigarettes - permitted anywhere on property. This will knock one of you out. But I had no realistic expectations of you showing anyway. But thanks for signing on a team member-in-name-only so we could get a decent campsite. However if you do want to come out and play, you will have to get completely off site to cop a drag.
No animals or pets allowed on school property. So no Dog Blue for me. See? We are all having to make sacrifices.
Open canopies only - no closed tents.
No personal golf carts or motorized vehicles (carts for planning committee/administrative use only).
Park at Gateway Church on Southlake Blvd and catch the shuttle.
Only my truck has a parking pass. Funny how it worked out like that, isn’t it? If you have camp stuff I need to get once you park, call me. Or just call me anyway and I’ll come and get you.
My cell number is nine four zero, two one zero, five five two one. Maybe that’ll confooz the spam-bots.
That's all for now.
