I'm waiting to see reviews of the final release. I have the sneaking suspicion that they are going to Duke Nukem Forever this- I got that one for my Christmas present. 15 years of waiting, salivating whenever a new update was announced... only to find it's a DVD that doesn't even contain the program, it downloads it from Steam. For a Steam download, a link in my e-mail would have got it done! At least for DNF, they made a little fun of the long time awaitin'- even Duke says in-game "took 'em long enough!"
Diablo was my first experience playing co-op, we used a modem and hosted our own games. Diablo II was great, it was nice to see them carry the story further along, and the improvements were, for the most part, actually improvements. But with such a long time between game releases, and the crap they've done to WoW and a few other products, I'm not going to lay out the cash on a game that might prove only that they've screwed this pooch, too.
I'm not sure just where they CAN take the plot line, tho- I bought Hellfire for Diablo, and the expansion pack for Diablo II, and finished them all. So, having fought my way through Hell and back, what else can they possibly throw our way that's still going to impress us?
One feature I'd like to have seen in D2, and in this one, is the ability to bring a character from the previous game version forward into the new version. Some sort of level adjustments or nerfing would be involved, I'm sure, or maybe have such a converted character start off with a higher difficulty level, but for a game series that remains one story line, and brings NPC's along for the ride, it seems the PC's should be able to buy a ticket for that ride too.
Will there be Hell Cows?
