Good links, Projo, thanks for posting them. Watercraft and swimming skills are too often overlooked (IMHO) by people as a survival prep. It bugs me to death when parents neglect to teach their kids these important life skills, bugs me even more when adults who can't swim don't take the time and effort to learn the basics.
I'm a USMC MCIWS graduate, much suckage in that course, but it damn sure increased my water confidence and ability. I've wondered before about the SEAL sidestroke, never had it explained to me very well or taught to me (we mostly did freestyle or lifeguard sidestroke in my USMC schools). I'll try that next time I hit the pool for some laps.
Just got back from visiting Oahu, by the way. Incredible place, the bride and I had a wonderful time.

Watson: "Yes, I thought it as well to take them."
Holmes: "Most certainly! Keep your revolver near you night and day, and never relax your precautions..."
