Wedding Gift Ideas

Hey guys. So here's the deal...I have a couple friends that are getting married at the end of June. They're both very much into guns and I would like to get them a wedding present that reflects that. My first thought was a pair of dueling pistols...the only problem is that my budget is somewhat limited. I'm thinking nothing more than about $100-$150. I need ideas! The challenge is has been set. Let's see what you guys come up with.

The dueling pistols might send um, a mixed message about your thoughts on the future of this relationship. I'd think of something else, even if you could afford it.

Hahaha...this is true. I'm just trying to think of something that would be for the both of them...and I'm drawing a blank. I always have their registries to draw from if I have to, but I would rather not.

Make it a shotgun wedding and get them an 870.

An 870 is always an appropriate gift.

Just tossing out an idea, but you could get a Heritage Rough Rider and get the grips engraved with their names on it. Then if you are decent at woodworking, you could make a display case for it as well.

Ooh...I really do like that idea. I have decent woodworking skills, but I know somebody that is much better than I am that could do a really good job. It is on the high end of what I would like to spend, but I'm not counting it out. I'll have to see if I could hunt one down locally.

Another idea that just came to mind is a Mosin. I could refinish the stock and make a fitted wooden case for it.

Or you could get them a non-gun related item that's actually an appropriate gift for a couple embarking on a life of wedded bliss.

But if you really, really want to stay with this theme, I suggest his and her hand grenades.

I'm not dead set on a weapon related gift. I really don't think that I emphasized how into guns they are tho...lol. I just thought I'd see what you guys could come up with.

You'll put your eye out with one of those.

A lot depends on what kind of shooting they are into & where they shoot. If they shoot at a public or club range then something like the aforementioned bags, vests, or ear/eye pro. If they have a place to shoot on their own land maybe get them some reactive targets (my wife loves tannerite). Shotgunners almost always appreciate a good clay launcher. Maybe go a little above your stated budget & go with good hard cases.

Whatever you go with be ready for funny looks and the possible disapproval of some relatives. I put together a upgraded 10/22 as a wedding present for my wife & while she loves it I did get my share of crap & "why would you do that" from friends & family.

I also vote matching his and her equipment, tailored to the style of shooting they prefer, or share the most. I came to this thread with the idea of engraved pieces, but your budget could be eaten in engraving alone, on top of the price of the firearms.

In your price range, I'd say go non-firearm related and get something crystal, but try for something they'll use. My mom and step dad have a beautiful crystal decanter set that's still in the box. I'd love to have it, and I'm sure I will one day, but for now, it's a wedding gift that goes unused. on th

And I'll also agree that you're going to get some "WTF" looks from people who don't share the couples love of firearms or firearm related sports. My uncle and his second wife are both big hunters. They got married on the first day of moose season, so they could spend that week together for the rest of their lives. It was a back yard wedding, with some interesting decor anyone outside of the family or their circle of hunting buddies raised an eyebrow at.

I do like the idea of a good clay thrower. I know for a fact that they've wanted to get one for a while. The derringer idea is great, but unless I can manage to find one for cheap somewhere, that's probably going to be a little out of my price range. Matching range bags also sounds great...I'll see what I can find. Thanks for all the ideas guys! Keep 'em coming.

Have they both got handguns? Then maybe matching holsters? Or if they have rifles, maybe matching slings with their names on them? I'm thinking accessories would be cheaper than guns, though I'm not really a gun guy myself.

Yea,.. the range gear thing is a great Idea. Little monograms on the side of reange bags,. Just nice and thoughtful, IMO. That's the stuff everybody needs and wants but hates spending the money on. (says the guy who still schelps his college backback to the range and keep his reloads in tupperware...)

Does the couple have their CCW Lic? Does your state offer one?

How about a certification class for the happy couple if they have not already taken the class? Here in OH, CCW classes are cheaper if you sign up as a couple or group than if going it solo.
