CQ CQ HF or 2m this Thursday through Saturday.

Postby NYKh » Wed Apr 18, 2012 9:01 pm

This weekend I’ll be out with the irregular bunch at the:
2012 VIRGINIA; Springg-aa-ggeddon, Camp-n-Shoot
http://www.zombiehunters.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=90517

I’ll have my new (to me) ICom 760 MkII and Buddipole setup, trying out my mobile battery powered field set up.
Let me know if anyone would like to attempt some comms, if your close enough for 2m that’s fine but I’d really like to attempt HF, 20/40/80m. I’ve only had my general ticket for a few weeks and have only made a limited number of contacts.
Being new to HF I know 20m is good from day, 40 someday but better at night.

If folks would like to set up an ad-hoc net that would be great. I’ve been trying to get the MD/VA/WVA crew to get into Ham and if they see it in action they might realize the value in it.

Let me know any frequencies to try and any times to listen and I’ll be ready.

I’ll have access to ZS until I reach Winchester on Thuresday, about 1700-2000zulu, then it will be hit or miss once I get in the mountains and the camp site.

Hope to QSO with a bunch of ZSRC in the field.

Also I’ll be on 2m on the way down, Balto to Frederick and down to Winchester.
One of the other guy’s is a tech so I’ll be monitoring 2m repeaters around winchester:
146.175
146.745
145.350
146.820
146.925
And
147.195, a high power one on a mountain that covers MD, PA and VA almost to Winchester

I can usually hit most of the Winchester machines from my mobile. Any idea of times you'll be monitoring?

Also, the Bluemont machine at 147.300 (146.2pl) is a good one to monitor in that area. It's the SKYWARN primary for the region and has excellent coverage.
NOTE: Due to the rising cost of ammunition, warning shots will no longer be given.

There's always a certain percentage of any population with the conviction that society is a conspiracy to deny them their rights.
The right to be totally ignorant of any useful knowledge seems to be the basic one.
