Diablo III

Postby TheLastOne » Tue Apr 03, 2012 11:50 am

 III

Search only provided a post from 2009 saying that the game was coming out the next day, so here's a new post!

I've never played any of the Diablo series, but this looks pretty intriguing and I'll likely pick it up. The auction house where players can trade items for either in game gold OR for cash money dollars is a brave and interesting addition imo. Blizzard says they will NOT be putting items up for microtransactions themselves in the AH, but want to provide a 'safe way for players to sell shit and add an extra interesting element to the gameplay'. I'm guessing Blizzard will sell items through battlenet instead  That aspect isn't drawing me to the game, but I think it's an idea that will likely be seen in other games in the future.

I do wish they'd make it character customizable so I can oaf to my heart's content over my sexy lady character, but whaddaya gonna do.

I've got it on pre-order. I hadn't seen the AH BS yet, but I'm not surprised.. although I like the idea that I can make money off the stupid people. I'm sure it'll just be 3-4 of my friends and I playing co-op all the time which is nice, as battle.net is crap, or at least it was, and I'm not sure they're going to figure out how to make it any better this time. I can't wait though.

I plan on picking d3 up whenever its released. I got pretty addicted to d2 and made some badass duelling characters. My favorite was my zeal paladin bytchslapper lol. He had the best of the best gear and charms. It was fun to piss of whirlwind barbarians.

May 15th.

I'm not convinced it'll be as good as 1 or 2 since they took too long to make it, and that usually means they've been screwing around with things that already worked, but it should still be fun.

^^Skill calculator. It looks like there is too much going on in it for me IMO, but again I'll just have to see. I think they really set it up for bnet players/dueling, and it's less about co-op. I don't plan on ever making it to level 70 or whatever, so all those damn skills are never going to get used up.

Loved 2 to death but I have very little hope for 3. From what I've seen 3 doesn't have the heart 1 & 2 did. Just my opinion though, its nice they finally did get it done but its kind of insulting too that it took them this long since they've had their fingers up their ass for WOW for many years. Plus I loved the Necro so they can shove it unless they release him in an expansion and no the Witch Doctor is not the same. Rant/

I'm waiting to see reviews of the final release. I have the sneaking suspicion that they are going to Duke Nukem Forever this- I got that one for my Christmas present. 15 years of waiting, salivating whenever a new update was announced... only to find it's a DVD that doesn't even contain the program, it downloads it from Steam. For a Steam download, a link in my e-mail would have got it done! At least for DNF, they made a little fun of the long time awaitin'- even Duke says in-game "took 'em long enough!"

Diablo was my first experience playing co-op, we used a modem and hosted our own games. Diablo II was great, it was nice to see them carry the story further along, and the improvements were, for the most part, actually improvements. But with such a long time between game releases, and the crap they've done to WoW and a few other products, I'm not going to lay out the cash on a game that might prove only that they've screwed this pooch, too.

I'm not sure just where they CAN take the plot line, tho- I bought Hellfire for Diablo, and the expansion pack for Diablo II, and finished them all. So, having fought my way through Hell and back, what else can they possibly throw our way that's still going to impress us?

One feature I'd like to have seen in D2, and in this one, is the ability to bring a character from the previous game version forward into the new version. Some sort of level adjustments or nerfing would be involved, I'm sure, or maybe have such a converted character start off with a higher difficulty level, but for a game series that remains one story line, and brings NPC's along for the ride, it seems the PC's should be able to buy a ticket for that ride too.

Will there be Hell Cows?

Considering how long it took them to make it, you really should be able to import old characters into the new game. But like so many games that take way too long to make, I'm not getting my hopes up.

See, I think that is a great idea that almost all damn sequels(and up) should have. I didn't really get into mass effect, but I like what I heard about your char from the first being your char for the next two games as well. Continuity is cool. You play a character for 40+ hours, you get kind of attached. Bringing that sucker along for the new games seems like a no brainer to me. It doesn't seem difficult for the devs to come up with new and challenging enemies, skills, environments, etc, so why is it so difficult to believe that the previous character is advancing and learning them as well?

I'm probably going to wait and see on this one as well. I never played one or two, but this one looks 'neat' graphically, and since I'm a noob to the storyline, I'd probably enjoy that part unless it was just total ass.

Open beta for the weekend. They're trying to stress-test their servers.

I'm downloading it now. I'm probably going to buy it, but I fully expect to be disappointed.

I like it so far, but it feels like it should be an inexpensive or free-to-pay game, not a full price one.

Loving it, will definitely buy it on release - even with the stress test played really well barring a few latency issues, getting into a game was the 'hardest' part.

protip: even though you can play it halfway through downloading all the files, don't, wait til it's @ optimal :D

buddy of mine can't play due to some weird download problem that sticks him in a loop.

However, I can play! Played through monk, it is pretty fun. I'll likely buy the game at release.

Finally got D3 downloaded and installed (lack of time at the computer, not a tech issue), only to find my video card isn't supported :(
Guess it'll be a while before I buy the game- need to buy a card first...

OK, here's something interesting- I downloaded the free starter edition of Starcraft II from the Blizzard website. It also lists my video card as not supported, but it runs just fine on my machine, as-is. WTH, Blizzard??? I realize they're 2 different games, but GEEZE!
