I think it's a very good story and the Aunt in the wood, ..... I like her.
Not sure what she plans on doing after she opens the gas tank. Hope nothing to hurt herself.
It's kinda suspicious when at first she wanted what was in the jug then at the end she told Octavia to take it back with her. What did she mean she didn't need it, she had kin? I thought Octavia was kin. No?

Daddy's tonic = pure hillfolk made 'shine! As a 'person of sensitivity' Auntie Eee-la would have been devastated by the mass of horrible and violent deaths brought by the Flood.
Imagine yourself sitting on top of that hospital in coastal Japan and watching your city (and most of the residents) being swept out to sea - and certain death. Drinking might go a long way to ease the pain.

Finally - with kin (Addie - everyone, really) taking care / to take care of her, Auntie Eee-la realizes she does have someone. So, she is strong enough to skip the booze.

another good one, the people showing up and putting the kids in the van to draw sympathy was a good angle but it didn,t come off quite right, I couldn't tell if that was what you were going far or it was just kinda confusing writing

I had thought of a busload of nuns...

Then again, what kind of people would be willing to put their children at that level of risk? Desperate, or uncaring? Either way, not good at all.

Another excellent story..........I think I would have lied my ass off when the First Sergeant came around........short on ammo, real short on belt fed (that stuff goes fast when in use), short on food, short on magazines, short on gas, could use another M4 or two or three....some M9s with mags and ammo..........I've always been a better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it kinda guy.
