Wrong area I know

Postby Archer46176 » Mon Mar 26, 2012 1:10 pm

I am aware that this is somewhat in the wrong area but I cannot post a new topic where I think it needs to be posted. I just read a post about non political avatars and I agree with it. I also read a post about keeping the firearms postings friendly and inviting for all political views. So my question is that since we are not allowed to have a political avatar then why is it ok for a moderator, who posts the "friendly firearms" post and seems to lean a tad bit towards the left in his post, allowed to have a donkey as his avatar? The donkey has for MANY years been the mascot of the democratic party here in the USA. Am I the only one who picked up on this and feels that it is a violation of the no political avater clause?

Having an avatar that indicates you are X is ok, such as the "Right Wing Extremist" some folks have. It would be a problem to have one supporting a candidate or political party.

Identifying yourself is one thing, advocating is another.

Maybe the donkey is identifying himself as an ass?

Don't confuse a belligerent and aggressive attitude with the strength, training, and conditioning needed to prevail in a fight. How do you know you have the Will To Win, if you don't even have the will to train?

While the two major US parties us donkeys and elephants I wouldn't consider the majority of pictures of those two animals political. I think it would only really become an issue if they were clearly political logos. I think you're making an issue out of nothing.

You know, looking at the picture, it kinda seems that you're complaining for the sake of complaining. If just a picture of an animal that also happens to be a party mascot is political, then I can't imagine what you think of the Republican propaganda masterpiece Dumbo.

Also, your post makes it sound like you feel the firearms section is somehow unfriendly to non-Democratic-Party views. I'm not really sure how you arrived at that conclusion.

A donkey, elephant, dog, eagle and wide variety of animals have been used historically by many political parties.

That does not mean that pictures of these animals are political in nature and thus banned.

Sometimes a donkey is just a donkey.

Um, this. In this case a donkey in a pen named PistolPete, which I found entertaining.

Whatever, you just want to keep your obviously National Socialist-Russian-Austro-Hungarian-Turkish-Armenian-Iraqi-Ghanan-Panamanian-Yemeni Political symbol as an avatar!
