I've used Potable Aqua
before with good results. The linked variant is "Effective against viruses, bacteria, and cysts - such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium." Also tastes good! (So no kool-aide is needed
) Otherwise, I carry a JetBoil
that can crank out boiling water pretty damn fast. May be a good idea to carry all of the above...
I'm inclined to agree with you. I've been looking at those Jetboil systems anyway.
I might just have to pick one up. I've never seen the Potable Aqua tablets before. I'll definitely give them a look also.
I agree, I checked the Jetboil link and am definitely going to get something like that. Anyone know which Jetboil is best for a 1, maybe 2 person bug out?
What about the msr rocket stove thing?
I'd try to find the older basic one. I'm kinda put-off by the flashier new models with higher price tag. I also think the stabilizer legs and pot support are "must haves" for the Jetboil. The french press is nice too!
Personally, I like the $100 Flash, but, with all my rambunctious kids, I need to know at a glance if something is hot. Lifesaving feature in a bug-out, or even just when I'm making Vinnie ramen noodles after school. For the most part, the Flash is $100 online or at Gander Mtn, though I got a really awesome deal on a package with the pot support, french press, a MOLLE pouch, and some other stuff for a few more dollars. The Flash PCS is a personal
cooking system, so I'd say 1 PCS per person.
