New webstore for prepping

Postby kevlar911 » Tue Mar 20, 2012 8:15 am

Hello, we just opened our first prepping webstore and would like additional ideas on what to stock. We are also looking for an actual physical location to have a storefront (SW Ohio). We are working with several vendors and awaiting approval from others. If you can think of something to include in the store or if you manufacture an item and would like to sell it, please let me know. I also put a ZS link on the homepage - if that is unacceptable with the admins, please let me know and I will remove it. Thanks! http://www.MidwestSurvivalSupplies.com

Just speaking for myself: the wife and I like to be very picky about our food when possible - whole grains, organic, non-GMO, no added sugar or preservatives or trans fats, BPA, PCBs, you name it. This often is the exact opposite of typical foods that preppers buy in bulk. Probably because the foods we prefer tend to have a pretty short shelf life. Now when the SHTF I'm certainly not gong to turn my nose up at some canned tuna just because I'm concerned about the lining of the can, but I'm a firm believer in stock what you eat, eat what you stock, FIFO - so I'm not going to buy a bunch of Mountain House meals or white rice or non-organic wheat. (Ultimately our goal is to grow almost all our own food and put it in jars with BPA-free lids.)

You may find that you can acquire a niche market of "picky preppers" if you can track down some good sources of these sort of foods or relevant accessories. I don't know how may other potential customers out there are like me and my wife in this regard.

EDIT: You may be able to cross-advertise on Paleo/Primal websites and also market your wares to diabetics?

That's a cool site. Heck, I think I will be placing orders, lol.
A site like that is very useful.
But you really need to get your name out there.

Take a look at any and all SEO options... To help drive your rankings in the search engines. Put up a Facebook page and a twitter account. Start putting up links on blogs and places like this.

If ya' need help, I will gladly assist. It's what I do, lol.

Thanks to you both! I will look into that Bonecrusher Doc. @mb2000inc - I will shoot you an email about what we have planned - will still probably need some help with the site - - it is godaddy based right now.

ALL: Forgot to mention - - the same military/fire/police/EMS discount applies to all ZS members - - there are too many different pricing levels to simply say a percentage off -- if you see something you like, send us an email, mention you are a ZS member and we'll get the best price we can for you. Thanks!
