Dont be so sure about that..i have rothco paracord with only six strands in it. I only noticed because it was noticeably "floppier" than the legit stuff i have

I use Rothco cord all the time, it has never failed me and is super strong. Plus it is made in the USA which is a huge thing for me personally. I am not 550 pounds but it definitely holds up when I am camping/ hiking. And last time I counted it had 7 strands.

Forgot to mention that they started selling pre packaged IFAKs and such. I looked at one that said platoon kit and it turned out to be enough for just 1 person. False advertising lol.

Went to the surplus store today and saw this. I think their motto says it all.

Because they ARE. And losing, I might add.
I bought a Rothco M65 jacket for the winter. It's lasted TWO winters, now. Which is, honestly, twice as long as I'd expected. Some main zipper issues, but that's nothing new from Rothco, but other than that, I have to be honest, and say I'm impressed. Not enough to so much as 'like' them on Facebook, but, I don't plan on setting it on fire soon.

I bought a bunch of Rotcho paracord just to use for daily stuff, knowing it wasn't true as strong as advertised. Can't say I'm unhappy with it, but I don't think it's really as strong as it ought to be. From what I've read milspec paracord is 7 inner strands made up of 3 strands a piece. I cut open a bit of the rothco to check and it was 7 inner strands made up of only 2 strands a piece.

So I don't think it's total crap, but I wouldn't actually use it for truly heavy loads.

Yeah I got 100 feet of 550 cord from them for like 8 bucks, I cut it open and it had 7 strands.I didn't check to see if those strands were made of 3 or 2, though.

I've never bought paracord before (or even seen it) but it seems to be relatively sturdy.

Yes, yes, EMBRACE the musty canvas and nylon goodness  I myself have a surplus of surplus, so I am going to be selling a bunch of it real soon, since I have no closet space for the boxes of surplus crap in my ex's basement.

I've bought some clothing off Rothco, mainly camo pants and bandanas. Very comfortable, have held up great so far across numerous hikes. Only issue is the zipper on all 3 which I had my dry cleaner replace with a heavy duty zipper... since doing that they've been great. Meanwhile, the zippers or crotch seems on my "real" 5.11 pants started fraying after about the 3rd use/wash. Not in need of replacement yet, but I think Rothco is a convenient one stop shop for stuff.

Now, I also bought some Rothco paracord and that stuff is elastic POS crap versus real paracord 550. Good enough for tying stuff up but not anything I'd want in my BOB after TEOWAWKI.

I must confess... I did get some (Black and OD) Rothco Long BDU shorts recently. They're the only company that makes them and they are far more comfortable than the shorter ones that come down to only the bottoms of the pockets. I've had 4 pairs of them that I wore for years and years, and they're still in good shape. Just cause it's summer soon doesn't mean I will stop wearing BDUs daily
