TSSI M9 Medical Backpack

Postby DocZ » Thu Mar 08, 2012 2:10 pm

Hey all,

I was wondering if any fellers out there have worked with the M9 Medical Backpack or currently own it. What are your thoughts or opinions about it? I want to replace my Corpsman Assault Pack and was looking at either the BDS Tactical Combat Trauma Pack or the M9 Medical Pack. Thanks a lot. xD

I love my M9 bag. I used mine the entire time I was in Afghanistan, doing dismounted patrols. It seems like after you get over the beginning stage of wanting to haul a fully loaded STOMP, the M9 is a logical choice. Keep your fully loaded STOMP in the truck for resupply, CASEVAC, or MASCAL.

The M9 would also be great for SWAT Medics, or for your personal preps it would make a killer aid bag.

Sounds awesome. I was a Navy Corpsman and we had to haul the huge CAP's so now i want to carry something lighter. I will probably end up getting an M9 next week. Just out of curiosity what color do you have? xD

I have one that is Ranger Green, and one that is Coyote Brown. Make sure you get the nice padded backpack straps, unless you are going to be wearing it attached to your armor full time.

The front MOLLE webbing is also perfect for a NARP IFAK, which I keep a lot of quick access lifesaving supplies. That keeps me from having to get into the bag outright.

Nice. Did you order from TSSI or did you get a deal on someplace else?

I got mine just after I had gotten back from my second deployment. For a few months I had been hauling around a STOMP, and fucking hated it. Then I moved to a TC3 bag, which was AWESOME for dismounted patrols. The reason why I liked it so much was because it looked nothing like an aid-bag. Most of the time, I had other soldiers from different units asking me how much ammo I was hauling inside it. They never had the slightest clue that I was a medic.

When I finally got my M9 bag, I amazed at how much you can stow away in it. Its still lightweight, the straps are comfortable (to me at least), and its not overly obvious that its an aid-bag.

Since these pictures were taken, Ive almost doubled the amount of gear to it (stethoscope, BP cuff, glucometer, suture kit, epipens, more IV and airway supplies, etc, all of which fit perfectly once you move around the velcro pouches), and now I keep it in my POV as a jump bag. Dont get me wrong, this bag rocks, but its not the cure-all. Im still shopping around for a decent priced STOMP to fill the MASCAL/resupply role, but its definitely my favorite bag Ive ever had.
