I dunno man, its shady, but its way more humid over there, and its got way more chiggers and ticks and mosquitoes than on the hill.

Plus, you'll just be walking back and forth over the creek to get to camp that much more often.

just get a hammock

but be on guard... a certain member of my chapter has found my hammock to be a great target for attack, if you were to do something to warrant it 8-)

It's a Missouri Department of Conservation range. Tannerite would not be...in the spirit of the place, it seems. It's basically a paper-target range, not an open gravel pit or anything. I forget which one but it's probably whichever one of these is closest to Irondale:

http://mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/place ... fed-ranges

Their rules, as I recall them, are that there is no full-auto firing (you can shoot MG's on semi), no shotguns on the rifle or pistol ranges, and...that's all I remember. But the rifle and pistol ranges are clearly set up for paper targets, and the shotgun range is for clays, BYO thrower.

Little Indian Creek is the name of the range area.

Car camping? Pft.

Also, there are flat spots on the mountain, you just gotta find 'em. Or sleep with your head uphill, and have something fictitious or sticky/grabby (like silverware or toolbox drawer mats) under your sleeping pad. I did it on a decently steep area last year, just to see, and it worked out fine. Suck it up! ;)

What did you have under your bag/pad/whatever? I used some tool drawer sticky mat that whisk.E.rebellion gave me, and it worked pretty good. My bag has it's own slightly frictious sticky material on the bottom for grip, but alone, it's not very effective at all. It may help in conjunction with the tool drawer mat though. It was some dollar store material that came in a long roll so you could cut it to fit your drawers. May have even been kitchen drawer material. Of course maybe my larger weight also increased my staying power...

lol maybe we need a thread on inclined-tent-camping tips...

Take it to the TOP!!! It's flat, has shade, a great f#cking view, and I swear it is too damn high up that the ticks and mosquitoes just stay down by the other campers.

It was just a rubbery shelf-liner. It worked fine for me, but I didn't have a sleeping bag, just a self inflating sleeping pad (lighter weight than a foam one) and a poncho liner. My problem was that my sleeping pad would stay in place, but I would roll off of it.

I might take you up on that this year, provided I don't sustain any pre-event injuries.

I camped about 50 yards (at least it felt like that much) up from base camp. This year I'm going to the top. I'll get both experiences that way, and I could use the hike. I totally want the view though.

I was just uphill from Bethany, and I have had bad experiences with those red paper wasps. Got stung right next to one of my eyes. That messed me up for a while, though I didn't have an allergic reaction. They were in a dead tree nearby. I gave them a wide berth after that.

Hey everyone. I was there in 2010 and met a bunch of you. I feel like I need to ask first since I haven't been able to attend any of the other stuff. I had some family issues to deal with the last two years that kept me from the meetings and charity events. I feel guilty for taking a spot at the Z-Con event since nobody really knows me and because of my lack of contribution. I'm back in full swing now so I want to go. I'd like to hear from the authorities before I register though. I can do chores! I know two years is a lot but in 2010 I kept asking what I could do to help. I think Kyle had me haul some trash and that's about it. My bug out gear is way more refined by now so I might even be able to help set up and take down. :)

Bethany had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic.

Bethany has to work the weekend of ZCon, she is working on finding a trade. She will not miss this ZCon...

Edit: Bethany found a trade cause Bethany is awesome. Bethany is going to zcon this year…
