I can't remember the model -- I'll be in Springfield, MO for the weekend for a jazz band competition, so I'll have to get back to you Sunday evening or Monday evening.

That thing is begging to be SBR'd with a detachable maple or walnut stock and matching grips.

That is the point where you tell them to watch the target closely while you fire off a single round of 00 Buck (making sure not to eject the spent shell) and explain that the reason there are X holes in the paper when he only heard one report is simply because the cyclic rate is so high that humans can't actually hear each shot! I wasn't gonna say it, but (unless it was a LEO, like the game warden mentioned) I'd do the same thing.

An EX hunting buddy of mine's friend: (he's one of those guys whose dad is an attorney so he does whatever he wants and expects to get away with it)

I was in town visiting, and the group I used to hang out with decided to meet up at his new house daddy bought him.

him " dude, you have an AR, come here, let me show you my new AR that I use as a backup for bow hunting hogs."
Me "um, OK, cool"

We go into his gun room and he opens up his gigantic gun safe. I notice a coach gun that he'd cut the barrel all the way down to the forgrip.

Me: " do you have a stamp for that? You know it needs to be registered."
Him: "oh shit, I forgot to take that out, I don't keep the good guns in my safe."
Me:" um, okay"

Then he pulls an AR pistol out of the safe and I say "oh, that's cool"
Him: "not yet dude, follow me"

I follow him out to the garage where he opens a couple drawers and pulls an AR lower out from underneath (complete with M4 stock) and puts the pistol upper on it.

Me: "wait...you can't..." too late 'snap'
Now I'm telling him its illegal, yadda, yadda while looking over my shoulder at the open garage door expecting ATF to come storming in. I excuse myself to head back inside and get the wife and kids when he says "That's not the best part"

Before I can walk away he pops the upper off and holds out the lower. The dude had dremeled out the lower so a FA parts kit would fit.

Me "OK, bye" then head inside to gather up the family and leave. The dumbst thing is that I didn't leave the house when he said " I don't keep the good guns in the safe"

But curiosity killed the cat. Also, he had a magazine full of fmj tracers as his magic hog killing rounds...

I heard the "That'll blow your arm off if you get shot at by it!" one last night, regarding the .950 and a 20mm rifle. I tried to cockpunch the guy, but he was agile.

DUMBEST F*&@king thing you've ever heard NOT ON THE ZS FORUM

Postby Winston Smith » Sat Feb 25, 2012 1:24 pm

No lie, I had a USAR co commander explain that the sector edge adjustment on a .50 turret was to be set so that in a final protective fire, the operator would slam ma deuce to the side, and hold down the butterfly without looking. He held this belief even after multiple questions, he insisted that was correct

Wouldn't it be nice if there was NOTHING wrong with any of this? I sure would like to be able to do whatever I damn well please to my guns without having to pay a tax, wait 6 months, and ask permission first.

But as it stands right now, i'd try and disassociate yourself from that guy asap

I'm not that stupid. Havent talked to that guy or hung out with any of his friends since. Although I did see him post a link to him firing it at the family ranch on full auto. Of course someone reported it and he says all the sheriff did (golfing buddy who gets to hunt their high fence exotic game ranch for free) did was call him on his cell and ask him that if he were to drive out there would he find anything illegal.

The absolutely only nice thing I'll say about the BATFE is that while they might be (read: are) "completely morally corrupt assholes who'd cornhole their own mothers for a misdemeanor conviction in order to advance their career" shitbirds, they are EQUAL OPPORTUNITY "completely morally corrupt assholes who'd cornhole their own mothers for a misdemeanor conviction in order to advance their career" shitbirds. Just, you know, saying. In case you feel like that dime is waaaaaay too heavy to not drop.

Snitches get stitches blah blah

I'd prolly have reported his ass, myself. Keep ATF busy doing the enforcement bit, and get a dangerous motherfucker off the streets. Imagine that guy running amok in a Katrina situation. A guy who's willing to risk, what, 50 years worth of felonies (I failed Math For Marines, sorry) is not a guy I want running loose, especially in a disaster.

I had a guy at a gun show tell my yesterday that having the bolt group on an A15 slam home on an empty chamber was bad for the gun...

Couple years back, I was in the local gun store, and heard the salesguy advising a couple on a new rifle, and steered them away from a 20" AR15 saying "You don't want that. The 5.56 round hits like a softball in cold weather because it makes it lose so much velocity out of the barrel, I found that out in the Marines, you want at least a .308"

I felt like interjecting, thinking of that dude's poor wife trying to hang on to an M1A during any sort of rapid fire drill, but seeing as I'm still under 40, my "old gun guy" cred is nonexistent and would therefore have been laughed out of the room, facts notwithstanding.

"Where do you work at that it's so dangerous you carry a gun everyday?" The last at he has station by work asked this while wearing a company logo clad jacket and not carrying.

"I work and live in the United States, I carry because it's my right"

She was nice about it, and said she supported carrying, especially open, but I lol'ed all the way back to work thinking the question she asked when In a company jacket withou a pistol as opposed to the opposite.

More funny than stupid I guess

Hey, whoa there....That's inappropriate terminology. The PC term is "BAM band".

Whatever the terminology is, both the main band and Combo I received first place.

To more stupid gun stuff, I guess I should refer to what someone told me after I bought my girlfriend that $175 M44. I was showing it to a guy that is currently brushing up on his guitar (he is, honestly, getting there), but believes that that also requires Marshall stacks and thousand-dollar-plus guitars even though he's not even in a group yet whatsoever. He has a year-old SG I helped him get, but I guess he's getting some expensive thing I've never heard of. Anyway, after he told me that, he said,

"When are you ever going to buy me an assault rifle? You bought your girlfriend one." Referring "one" as just "a gun:" he knows the M44 isn't 'assault'y. We'd just been discussing my SGL 21-94 I had ordered a few days before this conversation, so that's why "AR" was mentioned.

"Well, with that $900 you saved for another guitar, giving you three with the one you've "borrowed" from me for four years, you could buy an Arsenal AK similar to mine and about 1,000 rounds to go with it."

"Whatever, man I need this new guitar. It's so much better than the one I have."

"Okay. Obviously a guitar is more important than a gun at the moment, so I'm not going to buy you one."
Hi, Todd.
