Once upon a time I was interviewing MCA candidates for a market center. Met with a guy who thought it appropriate to tell me he has a permit to carry a concealed weapon! DENIED!

After many hours of trying to decide whether to say anything, I finally sent him this through a private message. It's borrowed from the Ohio gun owners card posted earlier.

You lost me here. He was interviewing people, and denied someone because he had a CWL, then sent him a message telling him why he should be trusted because he has a CWL, just not at that company?
I think I have it actually figured out right (in my head, not in my type), but I want to get the clarification from you.

Maybe so, but I can see the logic in it. Better to get these things out on the table beforehand rather than having them come to light later and lose your job over them.

I disagree. Better to never discuss them at all. Almost every employer has a "No guns at work" rule. So why would you tell them you might break that rule? If you do choose to carry against their rules, then you make sure they only find out if you have to make a good shoot. In which case, who cares if you lose your job?

Oh, it was a double dumb. The employer was dumb for turning down the applicant based on gun prejudice, and the applicant was dumb for volunteering the information when he didn't have to.

That's true, but the applicant doesn't have any control over the actions of the employer. He does have control of his own (in theory).

Thank you so much for this! It reminds me of what our USDA inspector said about my brother's Ruger Blackhawk in .357 Magnum.
"You know why your hitting to the left, don't you?"
"Why?"
"The twist in that barrel is spinning your round to the left."
My brother may not be the most informed firearms guy, but he's not a complete retard either. Rather than tell our inspector just how wrong he was, however, he just said, "Oh." Then he let me know what he thought of this guy's opinion after he had left.
That being said, I was cleaning that pistol for my brother later. Not only does it have a right-hand twist, but I also read up on twists to see if this held any water. Apparently, twists do effect the flight path... if you're shooting artillery pieces.
Of course, we all know it was hitting left because of the Coriolis effect.
