Brunton Glorb 1 watt LED lantern Reg $49.99, tan color only on sale at Cabelas for $19.88. Ships free for in-store pick up, or to your door for one cent using promo code "22PENNY".

With all the emphasis on high output tactical flashlights, I think high quality, compact area lighting is often overlooked as a critcal disaster prep item. I have the heavier, far less compact Bruton Polaris model (below) and am very impressed with its build quality. But I would much prefer the Glorb for light weight and compactness. It also gets very good reviews at the Cabelas site.

The iPod Shuffle of multi-tools: pliers, a good quality locking knife blade and nothing else. I prefer my multitools to be ungodly complicated and bulky, but this product might make more sense to someone with more ... sense than I possess. Cheapest I've seen.

REI and REI-OUTLET: Free shipping sitewide, stacks with current sales (from DealNews)

REI offers free shipping on all orders sitewide. It even stacks with items in its Winter Clearance Sale, which features markdowns of up to 50% off. Combined, it's tied with our December mention and among the best such sales we've seen from REI. Sales tax is added where applicable. Shop for apparel and outdoor accessories from The North Face, Patagonia, Marmot, and more. Deal ends February 20.

Of note, REI-OUTLET also offers free shipping on most orders sitewide; it stacks with existing markdowns of up to 83% off. With prices starting at $1.93, that puts many items at lowest-we-could-find prices.

I picked up a couple of these vinyl rain suits (ponchos are handy, but it's nice to keep one's legs and arms dry. Suits are also nice if it's not raining but the ground is wet or muddy). The price is lower than in the surplus or Big Lots-type shops and it's REI.

Mini Pry Bar
MSRP - $10.99
SALE - $3.00 and Free Shipping
These normally go from $6-$10. I own several mini pry bars including this brand. I can say it is a well made little tool and well worth $3.

Update Price doubled right after I posted this. Maybe keep and eye on them and see if they offer the deal again. I did manage to order one at $3 and free shipping.

Ah, to be young, in love and on the run from the undead. A very special Valentine's Day bug out gear deal:

http://www.rei.com/outlet/deal-of-the-day

Big Agnes Deam Island 15+ degree double wide sleeping bag. Regularly $189.95, on sale today only for $94.93. Free standard shipping.

Nothing says "I love you" quite like "It's going to get down to minus 5 tonight and this bag-for-two is only rated to plus 15. I only see one way you and I are gong to make it through the night." :P

5.11 tactical pants, with slightly out of spec colors. If you don’t care that your coyote brown is not quite mil spec, these are a good deal. $14.99, regularly $49.99. Limited sizes, mostly 28” waist. Shit-your-pants-it’s-TEOTWAWKI Brown is available in size 36, however.

http://www.lapolicegear.com/511-74251-closeout.html
Image

Also some pretty nice closeouts on other clothing and gear:

http://www.lapolicegear.com/closeouts.html

They’ve got the Leatherman CS pocket skeletool for $15.99 (lowest regular price I could find was $17.82 on Amazon).
Image

And the Coast MT7 Lenser focusing LED flashlight for $29.99. “Coast” doesn’t have the cache of Fenix or Surefire, but apparently this is a very nice light. Focusing beam, 3 levels of output, plus defensive and SOS strobe. Basically does everything but your taxes. (Best regular price I could find was $51.00 from one of those mysterious 0 feedback online resellers called “Liker”. Or for a name you can trust, buy it at the Sears website for $156. )
Image

If you’re one of the first 3000 people to place an order for $100+ this Presidents Day weekend, you supposedly get all kinds of free swag, including a LA Gear bail out bag.

In any case, make sure you use the promo code "LAPG" for another 5% off.

As of 2-19-12 12:00 pm CST they still had the free bags. They had female 5.11 pants on sale for 12.99. Which is great since the wife's bob is unfinished.

This was going to be a deal alert for the Kikkerland Dynamo Solar and Crank Emergency Radio, Green, which at $19.96 is at least $5 less than it normally sells for.

Except I noticed that the identical Kaito SB-1059 Mini Hand Crank/Solar AM/FM Weather Radio is currently on sale for $14.99. Both units are eligible for FSSS with Amazon Prime or orders over $25.

http://www.amazon.com/Kaito-SB-1059-Crank-Weather-Radio/dp/B002WQ7B9S/ref=pd_sim_e_1

Even though the Kikkerland unit doesn't advertise it in the specs, it also receives NOAA weather alerts. The band selector, like everything on these two products, is exactly the same, clearly listing AM, FM and WB settings.

If your BOB/GHB needs do not include 2 way communications, this might be a good solution to staying on top of news updates. I have the ETON FR160. While the Kaito/Kikkerland lacks the ETON's mediocre LED flashlight and questionable cellphone recharging capability, the ETON also sells for twice as much and is slightly larger. They both have analog versus digital tuning. I have no idea how they stack up quality-wise.

Separated at birth?
