Got everything but the name tapes.
The Propper uniforms don't have the IR "buttons"

I'll probably skip the IR tags. If I'm in a live fire situation with the WSG, there are a lot bigger problems to worry about! I got two Velcro nametapes, the Washington tape, patrol cap rank and reverse color flag for around $18 with shipping from 1800NAMETAPES.com. About half of the cost as from other online dealers.

Wait? does the WSG do any markmenship training? or is it just disaster response?

There are a lot of training opportunities within the WSG, but their stated mission is not as an armed force. Hence my comment above. The WSG acts as liaisons within the Emergency Operations Centers and any other duties dictated by the Governor and the Adjutant General.

IR Tags are just for "Cool-factor", nothing else.

Currently there are only Emergency Management positions, but once the empty slots get filled, there will be an MP/Traffic Control branch too.

General Military Training (GMT) topics include small arms, marksmanship and other gun related things.

headache, right behind the eyes, enough to make a grown man cry, or maybe just me....if this sounds familiar, I would say you just took a bunch of FEMA courses. You got the easy ones out of the way. Good job.

On a side note about opportunities with the WSG. I just got my orders cut to attend training in Denver with the Selective Service System detachment. The National Guard is paying for my flight, rations and lodging. not so bad for us being a volunteer organization. Its not glamourous, no runnin' and gunnin'.... but when this mission is a success (Selective Service System support), word gets back to TAG...more missions and integration with NG happens...its a good thing. After We get back from Denver, there may be opportunities to perform boots on the ground, relevant missions to support the SSS. The detachment commanders and Director have the final say on that. However I am petitioning hard for further support from the WSG.

In 2010 I was in Charleston on business and got the opportunity to drill with the MP unit of the South carolina State Guard in Columbus, while they did MACDIS drills. This was an opportunity that I sought out and drove.

We do have the GIIEP mission, the soldiers selected are working with the NG and coordinating with CAP, free airplane rides, not so bad for a saturday afternoon. See the pictures in the Events section of our website.

restarting our support of Military Funeral Honors at Mt. Tahoma National Cemetary is a mission that is worthwhile, I did that for 1 year. It was moving and entirely relevant to the families that had lost loved ones due to old age or war.

ESGR (Employee Support of the Guard and Reserves) needs support.

There is a need for instructors, mentors, recruiters, folks that can put together a news letter, etc.....

In a small organization there is more need than able bodies.

There are opportunities within the WSG, we just need people to step up and say, I can do that.

BTW....most days, I dont shave either.

Brutal, but useful. About 13 hours of class time over a day and a half for ICS 300. Good training, though, and the instructors were great.
