Since im late to the party let me make sure im on the same page as everyone else so I don’t muck up the works

The lower design has been submitted and approved (as shown in the other thread)

The manufacture is in the middle of reworking their shop so production has been delayed for several days

There will be a special item listed on their web page to buy the lower at some point in the near future

We can add custom engraving to the other side of the lower when we place the order online

I need to call them (after placing the order?) to provide info for the FFL I want it shipped to

???????

Profit!

Did I skip over anything and when am I supposed to call them about the FFL or do I fill that in when I place the order online

Looks legit. I'm not sure about the FFL step, but a good guess would be to put the FFL info in the web order. At least in my mind, that would be the most efficient way to ensure that FFLs and orders don't get confused.

Wow, $170? Okay then.

Do we get the contained detent screws for that much, or just the threaded roll pin?

So here is my AR pistol updated with the QD 80% lower I built a couple of weeks ago. I am hoping that my gray ZS lower is somewhat close. I know this one doesn't have the cool logo, but this is more or less how they will look shape-wise.

Image

Note on edit: I did get permission to put this picture back in. It is NOT an AOW. The ATF has cleared this configuration, per the links provided below. Remember that the total length MUST be 26" or greater to avoid becoming an AOW when set up like this.

Fuck me that finish is legit. You said you find a local to anodize it for 25 bucks?

Yup. It was the first time they had done a QD lower. It is their 80% one, so you can still see the machining marks on it. Now that it is anodized you can see them under the anodization, and it gives it an almost carbon fiber look. There is no way anybody can mistake it for anything other than home built.

About how long to expect delivery of these? Trying to figure out if I'll be able to order now and get it before I move in about six weeks.

If any of the other folks who wanted to have the ZS asset management tag and barcode markings put on their lowers need a link to the image, I've put them up on my server... http://www.akinsworld.com/files/IMG_0073.GIF and http://www.akinsworld.com/files/IMG_0074.JPG

I included the links to them in the COMMENTS section of my order, so that QD will know exactly what I want...

EDIT: Now that I think about it, does anyone know if that's a "real" barcode? Does it translate into anything?

Hey there. Welcome to the forum. Interesting design, but alas, the design has already been determined. And the one that you are posting is likely to be copyrighted if somebody produced it for a run of airsoft guns. :( But if you would like to see the design that everybody settled on, feel free to go through this thread and the other thread on the subject. You can also buy a lower direct from QD if you would like. :)

Uhhhh, dood that is a vfg on a pistol. Unless that is a registered AOW that is a violation of the NFA. Please remove the vfg and I'd suggest strongly pulling that pic from the net.

Seconded, watch out for your cornhole buddy. (But seriously, RG is correct, ATF considers that an AOW).

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's an AOW. I'd remove the grip, delete the pic and lock up your pets.

Ditto to what TDW and RG said, pull the pic, remove the vertical grip.

ATF has long held that by installing a vertical fore grip on a handgun, the handgun is no longer designed to be held and fired by the use of a single hand. Therefore, if individuals install a vertical fore grip on a handgun, they are “making” a firearm requiring registration with ATF’s NFA Branch. Making an unregistered “AOW” is punishable by a fine and 10 years’ imprisonment. Additionally, possession of an unregistered “AOW” is also punishable by fine and 10 years’ imprisonment.

Nope, sorry guys, it is Kosher. Here is the link to the Franklin Armory letter:
http://www.franklinarmory.com/XO-26_Letter__c_.pdf

Here is a link to their products page:
http://www.franklinarmory.com/PRODUCTS_XO-26.html

The way I have mine set up, it is not an AOW. That is straight from the ATF. They sell guns like this over the counter now. Even here in California. It must be over 26" long, which makes it no longer a handgun to the Feds. That removes any chance of it becoming an AOW. You still have to follow your state laws though.
