I would like to highlight the need to keep any such event focused on what we do as a chapter. I personally like to keep events focused on the purpose of the group. Therefore, if the event is for a survival group, something survival-y. If the event is for a communications club, something communications-y. If the event is for a philanthropy group, something philanthropy-y. But I’m not going to have an event based on emergency communications with the local habitat for humanity. Nor am I going to discuss acquiring building material donations with the local ham group.

Create a need, show how you can meet that need.

As discussed last net, if there is a need for a charity event, we could collaborate on a flyer highlighting the need for emergency communications, showing how to get in touch with local emergency communications groups, and distribute it in our respective communities.

So..somehow I've completley missed this whole section of the boards here. From what it seems, there's a weekly Sunday net; any other info on this?

KC9ULI here, and I'd be glad to find you guys on Echolink.

D'oh. Having to work Saturday made my think today was Saturday, as it was the first day of my 'weekend'.

Ok I’m a day late and a dollar short.

Is the echolink net still a weekly occurrence?
Sundays 1900 EST
Is there a ZS conference/link or just look for a call?

Yes i know a lot of questions.....
A politician's job they say is very high

They can put a man on the moon quite easy

So I'm two days late and two dollars short, I've been on Echolink a while but haven't used it much.
I do remember one of the requirements for the ZSARC as being an ARRL member, is that still the case or does my call sign qualify me?

Thanks Leia for translating Jenn for us... Jenn, http://www.pingtest.net/ you were dropped packets like a Jewish guy holding bacon. Or a fat guy holding lettuce. Or a ham operator holding a C.B.!!! Or um, a nerd holding dvds of "jersey shores"... Anyway, you were dropping a lot of packets.

As mentioned on the net, here is a link to the audio feed of our nets... Anyone can listen to this feed regardless of amateur license or ZSARC affiliation!! Most of the time this will just be the 146.82 repeater in Council Bluffs Iowa (sponsored by the South West Iowa Amateur Radio Club (SWIARC), (that's my only plug for my own club)), but this will provide audio during the nets for those who wish to listen in!!!

http://www.radioreference.com/apps/audio/?feedId=10616

As for topics, net control training, coordination with other radio groups (C.B., FRS/GMRS), FERS (field exportable radio stations), training others in radio communications, backup energy systems for radio gear, other nerd stuff...

hrm... watch the Jewish jokes.. as yours truly is Jewish.

Jen's ISP has been really bad today, so I think this was an isolated incident...I hope.

meh... My mom is jewish, my dad was mormon. They went on and on about it. Now I'm an atheist and religion has become a big funny joke... so, sorry for offending you for your heritage...

But she was still dropping packets. Which was the point of the jokes...

10-4.. I'll add that in. Sundays we are usually with the family for dinner until about 8PM. But I'll do my best to get in on the nets.

Still here. :)
