here's why:

although its illegal in california i dont have $10k to buy the real thing
i dont like the sport stock of the .22LR
i dont like wood stock
i like to modernize all my .22LR because of call of duty and battlefield3
these airsoft stocks are cheaper and i have more selections for my .22's
its a fun cheap plinker
its the closest thing i can get to a Barrett
its unique
i get to play gunsmith and customize my .22's with something you dont see everyday

btw i already have an AR15 and a converted Saiga 12. im having way more fun tinkering with my .22's

whatever floats your boat man, don't let me bring you down, I just don't and never will understand this trend. It reminds me of turning a pontiac fiero into a ferrari kit car, which some people think is cool I guess.

Why not just make your 10/22 awesome by making it actually perform better AND look cool while not trying to be something its not?

no worries man. i totally get where you're coming from and understand all your points. just go with it.

actually there's a couple of these airsoft shells that are worth more than the .22. sometimes 3 times more.

majority of these shells are made of metal. even the ones that are plastic hold up well with proper bedding and brackets.

these gutted airsoft shells are no different than the aftermarket stocks. also a lot of the available aftermarket stocks aren't for me which is why i prefer this method (gutted airsoft shells).

im not really into performance. im more into the "mall ninja" poser look.

would you have the same opinion with the aftermarket .22's like the GSG-22(MP5), ISCC MK22(SCAR), AR 15-22, AK47 .22?

I still am not the largest fan of them, but they are functional and intended for the purpose, Mostly just AR .22lr uppers make sense to me because the feel/Function is similar for training on the cheap

hehe thanks. im looking to actually buy a CMMG .22 conversion kit for my AR15.

ive read a lot of the mall ninja threads and the criticisms that go along with them. ive learned to accept them and just say it up front so people can look forward to my custom project rather than regurgitating the whole "mall ninja, poser" discussion.

after all, we're all gun enthusiasts, not gun racist. right?

I have to admit, it might not be the best thing, but damn, the Look Cool Factor plays heavily in this.

A .22 M82, so awesome

. . . so, is that not a mod to your AR15? This guy is modding his 10/22 to look like other weapons. Much like Krinker-Plinkers, Thompson 10/22 conversions, M1 carbine 10/22 conversions. . . but he is going BIGGER with the materials he has. Isn't that kind of a point around here? I personally dig the idea. It should also be posted in the 10/22 thread.

But I'm not going to sh!t talk the guys ideas. 8-)

Also, if he can make a Railgun on a toy engine or a remote controlled tank fire with a 10/22, hats off.

You're right, I see the error of my ways. It is EXACTLY the same to put a ruger 10/22 and stuff it inside an airsoft toy body as to have a logo laser etched into an AR 15 lower that has a zombie theme. No difference.

I believe you can still get ahold of the TAVOR in some stores. UHC was the first to produce it, then Ares got the rights and went buck-wild trying to pimp it out. Unfortunately, the plastic, prorpietary gearbox wasn't all that thrilling to us airsoft geeks. :gonk:

Loving that M14 build, that's definitely something I would like to see. That, and a G3. And an AK74su, and a PKM, and a L85, and...

I'll stop now.

I have a tactical AK. A 10/22 should fit easily because of the wide receiver

I would say the 3 main driving reasons for these projects are easy, cheap, and fun. there can be other reasons but if you don't have all 3 of those it wouldn't make sense. which is why putting a 10/22 in a p90 shell or one of these 50 cal shells makes sense but not an AK.
